August 24, 201411 yr Is a dragon hatchet much better then a rune one? Because I dont have that much money, so I really cant afford to buy stuff I dont really need :D
August 24, 201411 yr It is approximately 5-10% more efficient at gathering logs than a rune one (source: RS wiki). Whether it's worth it for you is contingent on how much woodcutting you're going to do and how much money you could earn in the time you would then save. Another option may be to get a friend to loan you theirs, if you have a friend willing to do so. "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." August 24, 201411 yr Author So what you are saying is: if I do a lot of woodcutting, I should buy one. Is this correct?
August 24, 201411 yr Yeah, probably, particularly if you do powercutting. It's about 2.2M GE price, and that usually doesn't require too many hours of moneymaking to earn. It depends on your skills, quests unlocked, etc. though. "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." August 24, 201411 yr In essence the way to think of it is:It's 5-10% more efficient, so take 7.5% as a middle value. That means then for every 100 minutes spent woodcutting you have saved 7.5 minutes. So if you spend 100 minutes woodcutting you need to make the 2.2m in under 7.5 minutes for it to be efficient. If you spend 1000 minutes woodcutting, you have up to 75 minutes to make the 2.2m It all hinges on how fast you can money make, but since wc is quite a slow skill it is hard to not end up with a good enough time saved margin to warrant using it. August 24, 201411 yr Remember that you can sell it (for hopefully the same or more) than you bought it when you're done. So you're not necessarily 'losing' money by buying it. My blog
August 24, 201411 yr I don't know how much better it is because it increases accuracy instead of decreasing cooldown and no one's done a legitimate study on it. It gets better against rune hatchets as the defense level of the tree increases, so it's a significant bonus against crystal trees, ivy, elder trees, but not against teaks, willows, or curly roots. Adzes are better than dragon hatchets on some trees, so I recommend getting one. 92 firemaking doesn't take very long and isn't particularly expensive. For what it's worth, a dragon pickaxe is 12.5% better than a rune pickaxe.
August 24, 201411 yr What trees is the adze better on?I thought adze was a dragon hatchet speed + autofm and a rune pick Runescape player since 2005 Ego Sum Deus Quo Malum Caligo et Barathum
August 24, 201411 yr Yeah it's better because of the fm. Less important now because of C2s and crystal trees, but you only lose the time you spend doing the beacons.
August 25, 201411 yr It's worth noting that when the elf city launches there will be Crystal Hatchets made available and they are considering using Dragon variants to create them. August 25, 201411 yr Trees have defense levels now? Wut? They don't literally have a defence level, it's just a way to explain the mechanics of woodcutting (and mining) simply as in essence they boil down to the same raw mechanic as hit chance: Your tool has a particular accuracy or chance to hit.The object being affected has a particular defence or chance to avoid being hit. Tools roll a random number (say between 1 and 100) and specific numbers are assigned as hit or miss, higher accuracy means more are assigned as hit.The object 'defending' itself will also roll and again specific numbers are hit or miss, higher level trees and ores have more numbers assigned as miss. To get a resource from an object your tool has to land on hit and the object has to land on hit also. For tools it means a higher tool has more chances to get resources and thus you collect quicker. For trees and rocks it means a higher one has more chances to stop you getting resources and thus they take longer to collect. This mechanic is basically identical to how attack/accuracy and defence works in combat, all that is missing is the strength/damage roll which will decide how much damage the attack does (minus any soak or reduction effect supplied by the opponents defence) Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
