Coming back to the game after 2 years

I've decided to try playing again after a 2 year absance.(Also forgot my forum password -.-) After logging on and spending 5 minutes figuring out how to turn on legacy mode, I would greatly appreciate if someone could shed some light on the mystery that  this game is to me now.

 

I am mostly maxed, (save for divination), with 2 sub 90 skills  and the rest at or near 99 and have some 100 millions of gp.

 

So for the questions:

-As far as general skilling and questing goes, is there any great benefit to not using legacy mode?

-How good a money making method is herb farming nowadays? (I got most of my money and 98 farming farming torstols and slayer)

-Is solo dungeoneering a viable training method now? (Always hated teaming up, only got to 85 for rapier)

-I would eventually like do some slayer again. Is there a cookie cutter melee setup, the same way bandos, fury, rapier + defender used to be? Is steel titan still the best minion for slayer?

-Any other general tips as to what has changed dramatically, what I should prioritise in doing and the like.

On overall most quests can be done on Legacy. And skilling requires usually no combat. However, for some skills it can be useful to use abilities, like surge to save time. Also ability bar can be used to drop stoof.

 

Herb running is still excellent money.

 

Yes it now is! Solo XP rates got a huge buff last year which made it now somewhat viable. However, best XP rates are still the best, but not OP so in comparison to Solo.

 

Basically, GWD gear + Chaotics are the way to go. Still dual wield is better as defender is redundant. Steel titan is very good.

 

You could join the 'Sc' friends chat and ask questions there whenever playing. People are usually nice and swift to respond with answers.

Yes. You get the action bar that can be used to do a number of great things such as auto dropping full inventories of items.

It is worth doing unless you value your time extremely high.

Viable, yes. Efficient, not really.

Defender is total trash. If you have the money, I would highly recommend buying Drygore Maces (both mainhand and offhand). Fury is no longer BIS, but it will be fine if you are short on cash. Bandos is fine for melee armor, make sure to get the Bandos boots and gloves too.

Anyway, yes there benefits to not using Legacy mode, in particular the use of hotkeys. For example, if you want to mine and drop ores, you can just hold down a key to drop all of them instead of right clicking and dropping them manually. Evolution of Combat also uses a bunch of special attacks known as abilities, and you can't use that in Legacy mode.

 

You can solo train Dungeoneering, as long as you're not F2P. Then you start getting penalties :P.

 

Other than that I don't think I have too much to add to the above.

Imo better do something in a less efficient way and have fun, than make yourself do the more efficient way and have no fun (not saying that efficiency cannot be fun, but that people should go for the fun things :P ).

 

So yes, go do solo dungeoneering. I was even doing it before the boost, as I wanted to do it my own way (which was not efficient at all and would slow down other people)
