February 8, 201511 yr I am making the assumption that by walking several squares away from the trap I make, I will have a better chance of success. Am I right?
February 8, 201511 yr I actually do not know and I recently got 99 hunter. I always found it that by the time I could go away from my traps they were already sprung. [hide=Quotes]Albel/JustinAlbel doesn't say anything anymore, just comes in, leaves an arrow and vanishes into the night :(Probablypractising some euphoniumYou nearly had me fooled, you fooler youEuphonium/10.9/10. February 9, 201511 yr Yep it would seem so, at least for some kinds of traps, i.e. bird snares (or so it says in our own Hunter Guide). I found a very old guide that also indicates better success for chinchompa hunting if you stand five squares away. So it might very well depend on what specifically you are trying to catch - what are you currently hunting? "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Can games be art? --- My blog here if you want to check out my Times articles and other writings! I always appreciate comments/feedback.
February 9, 201511 yr what are you currently hunting? Tropical wagtails with a protean trap. Yeah probably backing away about 5 steps wouldn't hurt then, if it is consistent with bird snare info, unless the protean traps somehow nullify the need for it. February 9, 201511 yr Author what are you currently hunting? Tropical wagtails with a protean trap. Yeah probably backing away about 5 steps wouldn't hurt then, if it is consistent with bird snare info, unless the protean traps somehow nullify the need for it. But the thing is my question doesn't just apply to what I'm doing now, I might come back later to this thread for archival purposes.
February 9, 201511 yr Wearing the specific clothing that goes with whatevr area you are hunting in supposedly works as well. Sort of a camoflage from what you are hunting. You can also smoke the traps to mask your scent, but that is pretty much of a pain. My Ironman account.
February 9, 201511 yr Doesn't matter. It's better to be close so that you can open your traps more quickly.
February 9, 201511 yr At lower levels, yes you should if they're "disarmed" by the creature often. You'll have a lot of spare time to do so since you have only a couple traps Since you're using proteans I doubt you really need to as they like never fail. The only hunter creatures you need to back away from are Pawyas and Grenwalls, once you get to high levels.
February 9, 201511 yr If you have time for it, why not? At later levels you won't have time for it, so don't do it then :P http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks!
February 9, 201511 yr Distance from traps only matters when you're catching grenwalls, so yeah it's better to stay close most of the time. BlogTrimmed | Master Quester | Final BossBoss pets: Bombi | Shrimpy | Ellie | Tz-Rek Jad | Karil the Bobbled | Mega Ducklings120s: Dungeoneering | Invention
