I feel like I'm missig something vital with swiftkit

Featured Replies

So, everyone kept telling me that Swiftkit was this amazing tool thatm ade leveling a lot easier, because it told you how many of what to kill/do, and where to go and do it.

and yet, when I try to do that, not only do I have to logout constantly ot get an accurate count of how many arel eft to kill (since it doesnt seem to keep track of how many I killed automatically) and I have to relog again with every single level up, since it seems incapable of keeping track of such things by itself.

So, am I missing something, or were people just exaggerating? Because as it is, it's little better than reading the runescape training guides on the wiki.

Edit: It also seems to be incredibly outdated. I'm playing RS3 on the latest version. It still says rockgrabs are level 3, when they're 75 now, and that crayfish dont exist, only shrimp.  I have to be missing something.

You may be using an older version. I only used swiftkit way back around 2007... when there wasnt the repository that was the RS WIKI..

Just use the regular game client and do the math yourself.. anything that keeps track of xp gets it from the high scores, which only update when you log out

Yeah unless it interfaces directly with the client (and I'm not sure if Swiftkit does that) it can't update live as you're killing things, because there is nowhere to draw the data from until you log out. I would also be surprised if it was really that outdated.

Yeah absolutely no tool in the entirety of the rs fanbase can live track how many more you need to kill etc as all calculations are done from the hiscores and the hiscores olny update when you log out.

Really SwiftKit is kinda outdated as a concept - it harks from a time when computer and internet power meant that opening something else when running Runescape was quite often slow, painful and lag-causing. So it was essentially a lightweight browser loading lightweight content without you needing to run two programs.

But in the age of better computers and wikis that niche isn't really a 'thing' anymore as for most players you can quite easily run RS, stream a movie, be on social media and still easily load and search the wiki without lagging yourself out.

Thhat's really disappointing. It's always so much easier for me to level when I have a set definitive goal. 13 cockroach warriors, rather than grinding cockroaches for an unknown abmount of time until I level, sort of as an example/

Have you considered picking up Slayer? While they don't quite hit definitive levels per task, it may be more to your taste, and you can always check how many kills of a task are remaining (through in-game features).

I've always been really afraid of slayer. Probably because I'm an old 04 player, who played for years as a freebie, so slayer was always intimidating. I may try it, though, sicne everyone says it's so good.

Also, I'm trying to decide between osrs and rs3 withl egacy combat (I will not use macrod abilities. I don't see runescape as that kind of game). I loooved runescape back in 07, but I feel like I'll be missing out on a lot of things if I don't play rs3, like quests and what not.
