Need Shading Help: Sand and Water

Featured Replies

Ok the past few pixels I've done have been about fishing so they've been near the ocean. Because of this, I have run into trouble shading sand and water.

Yes, the search button is my friend but he would only give me old threads where people commented that the creator needed to work on the sand or water in their sig without giving suggestions. I've looked at almost all of the pixelling tutorials and they don't really mention a strategy.

So please, if you have any pointers about shading sand or water please leave them here.

Couple of textures I quickly whipped up. I like the water one especially.

the technique you use to make your own original textures (like water or sand) is to look at it in the flesh and draw it as you percieve it..

zooming in on anothers work grants you nothing other then copy-cat material.

my advise? find it out by yourself, nobody can really teach you it anyway.
