Help! I am getting cleaned!

 

 

 

Title says it all... I lost like 55 Million gp of stuff to some guy. He's got 71 defense, 81 hp, 71 attack, 82 strength... and of course, 94 magic. We mage staked, and my stats are 92 hp, 85 str, 89 attack, 85 defense, 96 magic. Well... doesn't logic clearly show that I will win !?? Well.. sometimes, yes, but for the past 30 minutes (in which i lost over 80 M, 30 M of stuff which was originally his), it hasnt. Logic fails me again and again as I lose continuously to this far-lesser player. The rules? nothing on at all, no food drinks movement or prayer, no range, no melee, no specs. I will 2x. In the beginning, I use my attack style as defensive, and win a lot of duels... was up about 30 Million gp in fact. Then... it all came crashing down suddenly. It was the same rules. He was totally killing me. I know something was changing... since I wasnt 3 hitting him anymore, and instead, he was the one 3 hitting me. There would be duels where we just stood for like 2 minutes splashing on each other. If you were there... you would definitely have suspected that something was changed without your knowing... And I did lol. I first suspected that I was fooled by the highscores, that he gained a magic level (to 95) after he logged onto world 2. Well... after logging out and in again, he was still 94. Then, I suspected he changed attack styles. I still am suspecting that. I continued to use defensive until he was just 3 hitting me lol. Then I switched to accurate, and I lasted slightly longer, you know? But I still lost miserably for a lvl 96 mage with 92 hp.

 

 

 

Here are the questions:

 

I need to find out whether attack styles affect magic performance in duels. For example, does accurate beat defensive, or the other way around. With a wand on, I can reason out something in using different styles, but in a mage box! You cant even train defensive while boxing... so supposedly it doesnt matter at all.

 

If that is not the case... I need to know if choice of spells affects magic performance in duels. I noticed that I began owning him (kinda) when I alternated spells a lot. I use shadow barrage first, then blood barrage to finish it off. Blood barrage and blood burst look entirely the same, and hit similarly too. max on barrage is 29, burst is like 21. I noticed he stuck in a few blood blitzes as well... which is far more visible than the barrage and burst situation. When I beat him... I used a combo of blood blitz, blood barrage, shadow barrage, and blood burst, so I suspected he was using blood bursts. However, that didnt hold long... I guess he caught on and started using all barrages.

 

 

 

Anyways, sorry for the long lecture... I am just a little panicked atm =\ he won so much he is gonna go buy a purple p hat today, and tomorrow is when we face off again. I got about 120 M left in stuffz... even after losing like 55 M, but if he stakes a purple v my 120 M or something, its gonna be over fast if he still does what he is doing. Clean or get cleaned. I need some advice here. Please note whether you are completely sure or you are just guessing/inferring. Luck is also a possibility, but I dont like to narrow things down to that :S. Everyone says it is luck, but... that means I am one unlucky guy lol. Thanks in advance, and please post your thoughts :)

I would suggest you use your best blood spell the entire time. It was luck that made the others look better I think, and the better spell will just do better because of the larger possible max.

 

 

 

Also, your def is higher than his. You have higher magic and def lvls, both of which factor into your bodily magic defence. Because of that you definitely shouldn't use the defensive style and should probably just leave it on the attack style.

Thanks for the response :). Greatly appreciated... but I once heard somewhere that defense levels have nothing to do with magic at all... High magic is the best magic defense =\ Do you know that defense helps in magic resistance for a hard fact?

How many rounds you guys went through? Do you always bet the same amount each rounds? About how many % you win? Even if your stats are superior, you're not guranteed to win. Perhaps he's been lucky?

Lucky is not the right term :$. We did about 15 rounds today, but we have done like 15 other rounds other times. The first time I met him, he got 34 M on me in like 3 duels, but then I won like 20 M back. Next time, I won like 27 M off him in 2 duels, and this time... I won like 35 M to start in about 5 duels, then it all went downhill... He won about 8 duels, and I won maybe 3 or 4, bringing me to minus 55 Million gp... since I had to 2x him n all.

Maybe he was using a different spell or wore something different or maybe you used somethig new? Not sure. Maybe you should beat him up in rl and ask for your money back ;)

are you both using the same spell because mage boxing and using ice barrage is a no no and you should always in a mage stake use blood barrage i wouldn't use defensive just stick to normal and make sure you click fast and get the first hit in

Yes... it was no movement so ice spells were not an option. I think I solved the problem as well...

 

 

 

Ok. Thanks to everyone for your input... It seems that staking is mainly luck... But I still have a theory I wish to prove with Jagex. However, do not let this bother you... It involves a lot of experience with magic staking... Ty again for all the help, I appreciate it :).
