Actually your cat cannot become lazy unless you've started the Rat Catchers quest I believe. Also feeding your cat the Doggle leaves has no beneficial effects, it's just a nice snack for them (you don't get any special conversation if you do it, but we gathered that information from Gertrudes quest).
