Hey guys, for those who struggle to make their sigs look awesome here are some helpful tips for you! This disection should help you understand how to do certain things, this was not made to help you replicate this graphic.

Making a Google/Made by you image look good in a sig: Disecting the Eureka 7 Mini Banner

Step 1

tut1.png

Here i grabbed a eureka 7 wallpaper and sized it down so you could see both his eyes in the picture, his snowboard is in the back and actually is kind of a cool effect in the end. I put the face to the left to leave room for text either in the center or to the right.

Step 2

Now i brushed some random lines and took the smudge tool and made some flame-looking things. I did this in the color that i wanted to theme this on.

Step 3

tut3.png

Here i added two layers of the color red-orange and set the opacity to about 51% on the top most one, the other one was set to Hue at 100% opacity.

Step 4

tut4.png

The right side is looking kind of empty right now, i added another image. Since i dont want to cover up the other image with the rest of that robot's background, i cut off an appropriate amount and smudged the edges. Dont worry, the smudges will look almost invisible in the next step.

Step 5

tut5.png

Here i set the robot to Soft Light at 100% opacity. I then went into paint and made a ... hm about 50x25 image that are simply lines going across the screen. I copy and pasted them so they lined up and they give the effect of scan lines. But what i also did for an added effect was on each layer make the opacity dimmer and dimmer when it got towards the robot- scan lines sometimes just dont look good on things.

Step 6

tut6.png

The image was looking kind of bright, so i filled a new layer with black and set it to Soft Light at 100% opacity. It darkens it a satisfyable amount.

Step 7

tut7.png

Time to add some text. I centered it because there was really not much in the middle there, i made two layers: one was a simple overlay at 100% opacity and the other was on top of that set to Screen at 100% opacity.

Step 8

tut8.png

Lets darken the edges a little bit for a kind of Jewel effect. I used a black gradient in a new layer with the other end of the gradient set on transparent. Were almost done.

Step 9

tut9.png

Time for some shine, make a new layer and take the selection tool and set it to the circle mode. select a half circle at the bottom of your sig so there is an unselected arc looking thing at the top, right click and select inverse. After you've done that, take the fill tool and set it to white then fill it in. Set the layer to soft light and then duplicate it. (or if you want more of a white light effect, set the opacity to about 40 or 50%.

Step 10

tut10.png

That text is hard to read, so lets put some smaller text infront of it! but its kind of hard to read on that dark background, and white would go off the color scheme a little, so instead duplicate the text layer and color the lower layer one white. after that, simplify it and select the blur tool and blur it. This creates a glowing aura kind of thing, but its a little hard to see so dupe the blur layer and then it will be more noticeable. Add a 1px black border and there you have it!

The Final Result:
