99 Cooking, f2p

Hm. I'm aiming to get to 99 Cooking using f2p methods.

Right now, I'm about 75. That means roughly 100k more lobs to cook, or 80k swordies.

I'm currently buying lobs at 235-240, about 15k at a time (I dont have much cash on hand), then cooking and selling at 205-215. That's roughly 30 gp lost for each lob, so the total cost for 99 fishing will amount to (100k)(30) = 3M, which is really cheap to get a 99 skill.

I train at roughly 120k an hour. That means 1k fish cooked per hour.

I have a few questions -

1) Is my current training method the most time and cost efficient? (Of course, it's slower than swords. But swords are harder to find and could cost a lot more. And I'm not willing to spend any more than 4M).

2) Is going into swordies a good idea? I'm pretty sure they're quite expensive, and hard to get.

Thanks!

Short answer: For f2p, lobsters would be most cost-efficient.

Long answer: It is true that swordfish give more xp per single unit cooked, but as you say; they are also much harder to obtain in larger quantities (especially sufficient quantities to take you all the way to 99). Taken into account this scarcity of sufficient quantities it would be much faster to use lobsters, as these are usually available in fairly large quantities at once.

Using swordfish might also prove to be a whole lot more expensive, but I'm not up to par with the current buying-selling prices of swordfish; so you might value a second opinion on that one.

As other people in this thread have rightfully stated you might be able to stike it even between buying/selling prices for lobtsers (buying raw 250 and selling cooked 250), but that might take a while, and if you're in a hurry might not be worth the trouble.

Have fun attaining cooking 99 ;).

What you could try doing is to take a tinderbox and axe and a full load of cooked lobsters to Karamja.

Offer to trade a full load of cooked lobsters for uncooked to the fishermen there.

Make the trade, cook the new lobsters, and then repeat.

Fishermen will always get an instant full load of cooked lobsters.

And, with 75 cooking, you shouldn't be burning them anymore.

You will have to stop to cut more firewood sometimes

or sell a bunch of logs to the general store there and buy

logs back 1 at a time when needed.

If no-one has lobbies ready to trade then world hop

and keep cycling through the worlds trying each group of fishermen.

Many lobster fishermen don't have 75 cooking so they might be happy

to always get an instant, guaranteed full load of unburned lobsters ;)

It's worth a try...

you could spent like kinda a lot (likr 500k?) to get 2k lobies (if your lucky), cook them all, then trade them all for raw. if your lucky, you could get to lv 99 cooking with 500k if you keep doing this, like maby if you could find a perm buyer and seller? \'
