I actually didn't know where I should put this. I decided to put it here because I though the most amount of people would see it. If any mod sees the links I put as advertising and not helping the community go ahead and get rid of them.

 

 

 

I have noticed that the runescape community is so paranoid about downlaoding any file because they think it might contain a keylogger. To scan files use these 2 sites ( http://virusscan.jotti.org/ ). These sites scan with around 20 of the TOP antivirus scanners at a fast rate. Even if the file contains a 0day which is fairly unlikely atleast one of the scanners will detect it as Suspisous. Also the chance of it not being detected since nod32 uses advanced heuristics which detects virus without a definition is next to impossible.

 

 

 

Hopefully some of guys benefit from not being so paranoid. :D

What if that has kegloggers :( ?

Avg is ample securaty. I download things all the time. Just becarfull of what you download. Also always scan an [Caution: Executable File] before using it. The other thing, if you have 2 computers use one that never downloads stuff to rotate (change) your password on a regular basis.

not to sound dumb or anything but I"m confused can you explain that for me someone :oops:

Those sites allow you to upload files which they scan with multiple scanners and almost always find the virus.

 

 

 

However it has been known that they dont work 100% of the time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can confirm that jotti is a clean site and very very useful for anyone useing the internet.

 

 

 

However the other site i dont know of.

It requires a security hole. Internet Explorer holes are most popular.

use avg for your virus scanner and adware for your spyware scanner.

I just make sure my firewall(s) are solid and scan my computer with Norton Antivirus daily. :)
