Question how dya get the stroke on the grey tab to fit around the text?

first add the first couple of strokes to the text, then merge the text layer into the gray tab, and then add the final stroke :D

I tried colourizing it, it defeated bordering and surround of the text.

To get the "border" to continue and surround the text, all you have to do, is, create the letter, then duplicate it, bitmap it, then erase the centre part to show the letter underneath.
