i suggest you use curse to train

see, fire strike provides a maximum 19.5 mage xp points, whereas curse guaruntees 29 xp points (plus it tends to be cheaper :D )

the trick is to wear equipment that lowers mage attack bonus (such as full rune) so that you fail to lower the monster's def (you get the xp whether the spell is successful or not)

this way, you can keep casting curse on the same monster

this method definately works, but can get boring fast. i recomend using curse on the zammy monk in varrok castle, since he has high magic defense and actually recovers from curse in about 3 seconds. Dont completely forget about using firestrike though. It gives you hp xp in addition to magic xp and has a convenient autocast feature with a staff! Also, you kill monsters this way, so you can get the drops. Cursing is faster xp though.

Go and mage the security stronghold, to get the cool staff.

It depends, generally, if you are pure mage with no other combat, then do not overuse hitpoint-less training, best to mage attack something with a potential rune drop, or something with a good drop.

many people just do fire strike from lvl 13-99

or curse to lvl 55 and then high alch

or the fastest xp there is: teleports (very expensive!!!)

and i'm not sure about this but, i think crumble undead has reduced xp. need to verify that.
