If you do add scan lines, add it to the unsaturated part in the second one... That might look nice... If you don't do anything else, they still look great... Now is it still 30k bytes? or is it 30kb? :D cause your sig is 30118 bytes which is too big :D (Im just saying this cause i got raped once by doing the same mistake and i got that neat your sig is too big "sig" :D) Anyways, you need to use some more colors and then have a greyscale box, it will definately make it look ALOT better :) I am Poseidon, i wreck ships and conjure up storms! Scanlines are stupid unless you're trying to do a faux effect of some sort. Keep the original. It was good. Stick to your instincts, and don't go overboard with ornamentation. Sometimes less is more. I think my only suggestion would maybe be, instead of making the colored area a concrete box, do a sort of grunge-edged rounded rectangle, and don't stroke it.
