August 8, 200619 yr Yeah, I know it isn't a good computer, no need to tell me that. ;) Thanks. Okay, so I am looking into buying more RAM for my Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop Computer. I have looked into it, and different sites say different things about it. What I am really looking for is what RAM is compatible, from what I have seen it looks like DDR PC2700, 3200, and 3500, but I am not positive and some of you people would know more reliable resources I hope. I am also looking for the maximum supported RAM. Once again, different sites have said different things. From what I have looked into, one said 512, another said 1GB, and another went even above that. Any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated and very helpful. If you are too busy, and reliable site links would be fine as well. Thanks in advance to anybody who tries to help. :)

August 8, 200619 yr Doing a quick search It seems you have 2 DDR (184pin) memory slots with a maximum amount of 1gb. The siite says 1gb, but since you have 2 slots usally the motherboard would support 2gb (2x 1gb sticks). The memory is pc2700. The Everest program will be good to find out the rest, such as if you have 2x 256mb sticks or 1 512mb stick.

If the motherboard only supports 1gb you can not put in a 1gb stick with a 256mb still in. You can either take 1 256mb stick out and put in a 512mb stick for 768mb of ram or take both stuicks out and put in 2 512mb sticks for 1gb. PC3200 ram would work, even if the motherboard doesn't support it, the ram would downclock to pc2700. pc3500 is not officaly supports by motherboards, you may be able to use it but getting it set up like that, it's more trouble than it's worth.
