hi all, after seing the very orginal runescape by Andrew (not classic the oldest one) i fell in love with the graphics on it, they are beutiful and i would love to have a crack at making a game based on those graphics, does any one know what tool kits, programes etc i will need to make it?

Unfortunatly i cant really remember anything about it. I always thought it was written using Andrews own language he developed for Java tho. Kind of like a prequel to Runescript.

hmm if its his own scrpiting then i could have problems as i dont think he will be willing to share it lol, looks like il have to get the old c++ books out and make my own language

why not download realmcrafter + crack... heard its a game engine

 

id be willing to help but i still havent found myself a copy of realmcrafter

You'll have to make, or use, a game engine.

 

 

 

To be extendable you'll need it to be scripted, using Pawn, Lua, etc, and on top of that, you'll have to know how to draw graphics to the screen, using something like Allegro or SDL, on top of a decent understanding of a programming language that can be used with the mentioned libraries, such as C or C++.

 

 

 

You'll also have to make the graphics yourself, or hire an artist, same goes for sound and the like.

 

 

 

Or you could use a dumb-downed tool that teaches you nothing and costs money to make a game that will run slowly.

i can do all the graphics as a good friend is a graphic designer and he can do all the 3d modelling, and im going to build my own game engine as the kits ive been looking at are to restrictive

found map creators, websites that offer isometric graphics,tutorials,game sources,game engines,etc...
