widescreen monitors......

So my 18th birthday is coming up i asked my mom for a blue phat but she said no..... Good dam noobs..... So instead i want one of those cool flate panel widescreen monitors. Im looking for around a 19inch maybe 20inch if there not to expensive. So here are my question...

 

 

 

1. What is a good response time 8ms? do i want higher ms or lower.

 

 

 

2. What is a good contrast ratio 1000:1 do i want more or less

 

 

 

3. Whats a good brand and good places to look, best buy? circuit city?

 

 

 

4. Also whats a good resolution?

 

 

 

I hope I covered everything, if i didnt please add other helpful information, Hope I gave enough information. Thanks

Also a couple cool ones I saw were black and the brands were viewsonic, envision, mag, lg, and hewlet packard.

1000:1 ratio would be horrible, it would be like looking at a ruler.

 

 

 

The standard ratio for widescreen monitors is 16:9

Contrast ratio has nothing to do with the width and height of the screen.

 

 

 

The ratio of the brightest and darkest images a display can reproduce.

 

 

 

As LP already said, the higher the contrast ratio the better. Also, even if you don't get a true widescreen monitor (16:9 as Evadek tryed to point out), a standard 19" LCD is still plenty large. :mrgreen:

Holy crap, 2000:1 contract ratio w/ 5ms .... 19'' for under 300$ thats insane.. if u can, get that one. you will forever love it.

 

 

 

I agree with LP on this one. That monitor looks realy good. 5ms response time is above average and it's under $300 for a 19inch.

Found this one almost the exact same as the one on bestbuy, but 1inch bigger with higher resolultion and it isnt sold out like the one on bestbuy
