help with rune mining

i recently got 85 mining and i am finding it very difficult to mine the rune. I am f2p and i use a scout and stuff and i still always manage to die. Can anyone give me a few tips.

I bring 6 nats, 9 earths, and water staff (for up to 3 bind spells) in addition to offensive mage equipment (for a better chance of the spells taking effect) and 5 lobsters (so that I may entertain the pker a bit longer).

 

 

 

Also, if you stop in a single-combat zone near aggressive monsters, something should attack the pker and prevent them from hurting you for a short while.

 

 

 

I'm also paranoid and keep my mouse hovering above the logout button in case any white dots appear on the minimap :P

 

 

 

EDIT: Oh, and if you do get attacked before you can log out, I suggest you turn on protect from magic immediately. If you get hit with bind, that's pretty much guarunteed death -.-

Im also a new rune ore miner and here's what I have to share:

 

From my last mining trip I wore full green dragon hide armor

 

and this was extremely useful because I was chased by a pker

 

from lv 46 wild all the way to lv 16. Usually I would have wore

 

nothing. Always go rune ore mining with u have 100% energy.

 

Since most pkers are warriors u should be able to outrun

 

them because they are usually wearing full rune and stocked with

 

food.

 

 

 

What also helped a lot was having lv 44 prayer and definitely

 

lv 43 prayer is a must for any serious rune ore miner.

 

 

 

I also carried a stock of 12 lobbies everytime i mine.

Or if you want to save space in your backpack - take one of the 'one shot' escape options such as an Elf Crystal, an ectophial or a house teleport tablet.

heya im a rune miner to =)...

 

 

 

1st Sugestion - use 2 scouts in lava maze and alternate then when switching worlds, theres no time delay.

 

 

 

2nd suggestion - i wear full rune with a scimmy, you dont look like a miner and last alot longer.

 

 

 

3rd suggestion - Use prayer and pass the lvl 38 chaos alter on the way down if atacked, its worth the extra distance.

 

 

 

4th suggestion - have full food and another thing that helps is to have a mate take your ore of you and replace with food every 10-15 ores mined =)

Can anyone give me a few tips.

 

I suggest that you make a mid-level scout wearing 3 piece armor or dragonhide.

 

Then, position him at the rune rocks with a (free Fally bronze) pic so it looks like he can mine rune

 

and, since he's mid-level, he can be attacked by PKers.

 

 

 

If the PKer's see a mid level player at the rocks then, chances are, they will run over to attack.

 

In other words, use your scout as bait for the PKers.

 

If he dies then you lose nothing but the free pic.

 

(Better him then your real miner)

 

You can even make "bait scouts" for many worlds.

 

If no PKers appear then log in your real miner and get to work.

 

 

 

Also, know where the multi-combat wildy zones are.

 

Use the Tip It Wildy map

 

 

 

Turn off auto-retaliate and, if attacked, run west into the Ice giants.

 

Since you have auto-retaliate off, you won't stop to fight the giants when they attack.

 

But the PKers will probably be stopped, briefly, by the giants.

 

I usually run west, south, southeast, and then south until I can tele to Edgeville.

 

Of course, have full run energy.

 

 

 

Mine during "off hours"

 

I found that evening time in California (btw, I don't live in California)

 

was usually a bad PKer time when mining.

 

 

 

Consider wearing nothing and mining only 3 (or 4) ore per trip

 

If PKers attack then make no effort to live. Just drop your pic and let them kill you.

 

Since you have nothing but your 3 (or 4) ore, you will keep it all.

 

Imagine the PKers frustration when you thank them for the free trip and always leave nothing but bones.

 

Mining this way is slower, but, you will never lose a single rune ore.

 

Maybe you will even get a reputation as a "Don't bother killing him 'cause he drops nothing" miner.

 

 

 

Finally, remember that Jagex considers PKing to be "fun" and one

 

of the things that attracts people to play the game in the first place.

 

If you don't agree with their idea then consider playing another free game.
