Having trouble with hard drive partition

Ok, I just got a new laptop and I want to set aside 15GB for the Linux OS that I WILL get someday.

The long and short of it is:

Windows says I need recovery console to do it, which can only be installed from the Setup CD which I dont have because Windows came preinstalled. All I want to do is make a little partition, isn't there an easier way?????

i hate that they never include a proper install disk

well.. if you have a friend that has a copy borrow it (not telling you to bootleg but borrow)

or use the installers resize tool?

use partition magic. and who's your computer manufacturer? because i know compaq has something that lets you partition your computer. i believe hp has one too. it's one of those things that you press when you first boot up your computer.

try getting a knoppix live disk, its a linux Distro. Since you cant partition an active drive, youlll need to boot from the disk. Knoppix has qdisk i belive, and that will do it for you.

How about Fdisk? Cfdisk? *fdisk (some other fdisk I don't remember).

that one erases the drives contents while it works
