What did you do prior to this? Did you reformat?

There are two things I can think of:

1. You muted the volume.

Start -> Control Panel

Click "Sounds and Audio Devices"

Check if the sounds are muted.

If not, click advanced and see if any of those options are muted. (Leave microphone and line-in muted)

2. You may need to download drivers for your sound card. Tell us what model and brand your computer is and we should be able to find the right drivers..

Not muted

Also, nothing has been changed on my computer before, the video card has been the same for a year, and so are the speakers. They used to work, but they stopped... <.<

Even so, the model is pro-300 hi-fi multimedia speaker...c-media wave device...thats all the info about them i can find.

Generally sound not working is...

You haven't plugged it into the right jack in the computer. (Most people confuse the soundcard jack with one of the jacks on a 56K modem).

As weezcake said, you haven't got your soundcard drivers installed. (Or they're not working properly and you may have to update them).

And...

It's muted or the sound is turned down.

There isn't really anything else that can cause it, apart from maybe hardware failure.

Good luck. :P

Try some earphones in your computer to see if they work.

Notoriously Trollish.

The cable could be bad. That happens a lot of times.

dude, this happend to me a while ago also, my dad says the sound card can be lose from the mother board of mine. he hasn't checked it yet. I'm wondering if theirs something i can do to fix it. I'll plug it in once in a while to see if it works and it stops after like a minute. any tips?
