Best unknown programs out there?

Featured Replies

I just wanted to know if anyone here has any programs that just drastically changed their life.... that not many other people know about (ie not firefox).

Mine would have to be FreeMod, it manages windows by sending them to the tray, changing transparency, keeping them on top, and all that handy stuff in one little box :)

Another that I want to try that I feel might change my life a little is GnuCash, does anyone have any experience with it? (I'm personally waiting for the windows port, since it screwed my linux computer up so much getting the prereqs)

I've heard about these 3 a lot, especialy WinRar is used a lot, even more so than .zip sometimes.

I don't know how known it is, but I love CCleaner. It cleans up your temp files among other things (I even used it to fix a virus that had hidden it's self as a registry file before!). First time I ran it (after having this pc for lik e 3 months) I think I cleared off about 2-3GB's of junk.

I find WordWeb to be a great small program. It is basically a dictionary. I like it because it is small, quick and does a good enough job.

(It would be great if other posters include a bit of info about the programs which they are suggesting, a name does not mean much and it takes a bit of time to check out what they do)

windows UI Tweak. It allows a crapload of stuff like start up screen load time and program Start up allowedance all in one little thing. I havent used it so long though since I usally forget about its behing the senes action. Basicly all the stuff it can do you can do in DOS but its right there on this Thing for you instead.

carefull with things like CCleaner and TuneXP, they can really mess up your computer if you dont know what your doing.
