Interesting band backstory?

Featured Replies

So i'm wondering, are there any bands you guys listen to out there that have a suprisingly rich story behind them?

One I have been interested in recently (and read about yesterday) was burzum. (http://www.burzum.org). It was one of the black metal bands that started the whole thing down in norway.

Anyways, if you read his writings (he is in jail right now) you can find out why he created this music. He wanted to express the magic of the world, and how the world does need darkness to keep good intact.

One of the things that struct me about him was that even though he was against christianity he wasn't a satanist, and didn't go around with the many church burnings that went on during that time in norway.

He was put into jail for murdering Euronaymous (sp?) because Euro had planned on killing varg (lead of burzum). So, he esentialy killed him before euro had gotten to him.

Anyways, it realy is an interesting read if you look at his site under "biography".

I also have always liked the little bit of story behind mayhem, even though it was deffinitly the darker side of the genre.

Yeah i'm not the largest fan of his (he does have some good stuff though, and I like his ambient pieces) but the story was great.

Highly debatable.

Simon and Garfunkel have some prettty crazy stories under their belt.

Korn, Stone Sour, and My Chemical Romance's name origins are pretty unique. lol, stone sour was named after a drink all the guys in the band made when they were teenagers. it had like...orange juice, sugar, whisky and a few other things, if Stone Sour sues me, im telling them that Nadril took my acc and put this. lol.

Korn-Jonothan Davis(vocals) used to work in a "korn"field, in Bakersville, California or something like that, before joining the band.

My Chemical Romance-Mikey Way(Bass/backing vocals i believe) was reading a book and he looked at the back of it and he saw the three words- "A CHEMICAL ROMANCE" and he thought that that would be a perfect name for the band he and his brother Gerard Way and a few other guys was in.

Anyone got any dirt about She Wants Revenge? i love that band, but i cant find any freakin info.

I'm sure it is, I was simply telling his side of the story. Plus, I think i'd trust his word more than, say, someone from mayhem's word  .

I might try and research it a bit more later.

Led Zeppelin's "Shark Episode". It's crazy.

I don't think I'm allowed to tell you about it, but you can search it up if you like.
