No, actually you just need cooking apples. Put them in a basket. To my knowledge, there's no other type of apple besides a cooking apple. [There's an apple tree place near the Gnome stronghold. Not sure if you can pick them, but that may give normal apples. Also, not sure about the barrels of apples on the ship to get to Lunar Isle.]

You can also buy them from the culinaromancer's chest in the Lumbridge castle basement if you started "Recipy for Disaster" quest and the chest becomes available for you.

Culinoromancer is defibnitely the best place to get them, as shop and bank are at same place and the stock is nice(after having done all subquests of recipe disaster i get for example 50 chocolate bar all the time I check :), many apples too and tomatoes
