Just a little question....Made complicated :P

 

 

 

 

 

I recently bought a wireless mouse with a scroll wheel ( you know the one in the middle which scrolls dow the page :P ). And my previous mouse would scroll at a much faster rate and i could fix it fast and it would go down the page at a fast rate.

 

 

 

Now my new mouse i have to scroll with a single click of the finger (if I try to flick it quickly it just doesn't scroll down my page like my last mouse).

 

 

 

And its one of those things which you can put up with, but you don't want to as its just annoying me greatly. So I tried fixing it through going to the Control Panel and Mouse, but I couldn't find the option to change the scrolling (if it is changeable). All I could find was how many lines it scrolled with each single click (and thats not what I want I just want it to move continously).

 

 

 

So could anyone show me how to change it? Thanks. :) :wink:

Control Panel-Mouse-Wheel then there's two options there for scrolling:

 

 

 

Roll the wheel one notch to scroll:

 

The following number of lines at a time & you can choose the number &

 

 

 

One screen at a time.(so choose this option)

 

 

 

Otherwise just click on the scroll & let it go up or down.Or just increase the number of lines you want it to go(yeah you tried but thento,lol)

How can I change the mouse's wheel scroll rate?

 

 

 

The mouse wheel is very handy when you want to scroll through Office documents or Web pages.

 

 

 

By default, wheel mice move up or down three lines for each notch you roll on the mouse wheel. While you can adjust this setting within the software that came with your mouse, you'll typically be able to choose between the following settings: 3 Lines, 6 Lines, Screen, and None.

 

 

 

If you have one of the larger monitors and are using a high resolution setting, you'll probably find that you'll want to use a setting other than these. You can fine-tune how far your mouse scrolls with each one-notch rotation by editing the following Registry value:

 

 

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WheelScrollLines

 

 

 

You can set the WheelScrollLines to a value from 0 to 4294967294. A value of 0 disables scrolling altogether, and 4294967294 configures your mouse to scroll one page with each one-notch rotation.

 

 

 

Why use these mysterious numbers no one knows...

 

 

 

BTW, some commercial mouse vendors provide their own set of mouse-tweaking programs. See if your mouse maker has such features.

 

 

 

 

If you don't know how to get into the registry, go to Start -> Run -> Type in 'regedit'. That will open the registry editor, then just use it as you would use 'Windows Explorer'. Navigate to the above setting and double click it to change it. Type in the new figure and I'm guessing you'd have to reboot for changes to take effect.

Looking for an answer, although I don't think you can. Every mouse I know works like your new one. Now if you actually press the button down (click it like a normal button) and then move the mouse down the screen it will scroll like you say. Maybe your old mouse was actually broken and had the button permanently pressed? :P

 

 

 

Either that or you had specific software that told the PC what to do with the wheel?

Btw do you an Apple mouse?

Na my old mouse was not wireless and was not brocken it was just better than this one as I could flick the scroll wheel and it would go down the page really quickly instead of my mouse at the moment which I can only make scroll down the page by clicking it each individual notch of the scroll wheel (hard to explain without showing you in real life, I hope you get what I am saying though).

 

 

 

And yes I know about clicking in the scroll wheel so that it goes down the page by moving my mouse downwards but its a whole lot easier (especially for reading purposes) to use the scroll wheel by flicking it. So I want to fix this problem. :)

 

 

 

And FireBird it is a Microsoft mouse, which came with no Software with it (neither did my last mouse).

Also I installed the Extension "Smooth Wheel" for Firefox and slightly fixes this problem when browsing the Internet, but its not completely fixed. And the mouse scroll wheel is still bad while using other programs. #-o

This really is confusing as hell, I bet it's something simple too...

 

 

 

I still say the easiest way to scroll faster would be to change the value in the registry or use Control Panel and change it there. Instead of 3 lines, try 8 or 10 lines? I tested it with 50 and it could scroll TIF from the top to the Off-Topic section in one "click".

I would do as they say and change your mouse scroll settings.

 

 

 

What mouse is it, because some mice come with their own drivers and changing thw windows settings will do nothing, as they are overridden by the drivers.

 

 

 

Also make sure you have your videocard drivers updated. Scrolling thru IE without video drivers is rediculous

And Zonda my mouse is just a wireless mouse made by Microsoft which came with no other software provided with it. Also it has the annoying scroll in all program not just IE. :wink:
