Firebird75
My friend told me that when he tried to use his Windows 2000 it kept stalling what would you guys recommend? Right now I have Windows 98 with 128 megabytes. I was also considering getting an Alienware Aurora harddrive. Do you thing it would be worth it? Cruiser
Windows 98 is a dinosaur, 128mb of ram is nowhere near enough for just about anything in recent years, and getting a harddrive with the Alienware name on it won't fix anything. If you're still running Win98 with 128mb of ram, you'd be better off getting an entirely new computer than trying to peice things together for better performance. With a box that old you won't get far with part upgrades anyway.
zonda
Ummm... okay let's recap. You want to get a new computer for your runescape membership, but you don't think yours can handle it because your friend with windows 2000 couldn't? Well... your friend with windows 2000 was probably an idiot with 17 virus's on his computer. 128 Mb RAM is more then enough to play RS, and your OS shouldn't matter as long as you keep it up to date and secure. If you play RS F2p, its no different then P2p aside from the items One last tip, please, for the love of all that is not [developmentally delayed]ed, don't buy an alienware.... your paying thousands extra for a brand name and markup, and I know a rediculous ammount of people who ended up getting an alienware, and it didn't even work... the company refused to fix it, and instead charged the customer to ship the computer back, and then charged the customer again for a "restocking fee"... people paid over $6000 and receive no computer at all.... *edit* Cruiser, I don't like your sig changing script dealio, it confuses me too much =( -oh, and if anyone for some reason saved my sig... /r/ a link, I deleted it and apparently tip.it deleted it from my sig ... Sharper
Just to clarify, I would not be recommending that it is ok to use an older version of Windows, espeically unsupported ones. You need to have Windows 2000 at the minimum, but preferbly Windows XP. I would really suggest having Windows XP before you start connecting computers up to the internet. Older Windows OS's are just to vulnerable and very easy to become infected.
weezcake
Win XP + 128MB RAM = sluggish, not worth using. 2000 would be better. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
