Siglemic
Can the pictures people post give me a keylogger on my computer? Its been said on the jagex site that you can, but i've seen pictures here of people with green p hats, and they wouldn't have those if they got keylogged. Kinslayer777
Well, actually, there is some danger it pictures. I'm not too sure how much of it has to do with danger to tip.it infrastructure or the end-user, but in general it's considered to be safe. anyhow...Tip.it is rather, um, well, they'd definetly stop something if it's likely to be dangerous. earlier in the year there was a microsoft exploit that was very dangerous in terms of pictures, but it's been patched for users who have windows updated. If you're running sp1 for whatever reason i'd suggest you get a hotfix or third party patch from a good source
godsfearme
Any time you click on a link you can put you self in danger of a keylogger or viruis. But 99.9 percent of the time the links are okay. I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-
Vape
If you don't have the most recent version of your operating system, pictures can contain viruses. If you use windows, set it to automatically notify you of (or download) windows updates. Any time you click on a link you can put you self in danger of a keylogger or viruis. But 99.9 percent of the time the links are okay.If you have an up to date OS, browser and firewall, that's simply not the case. Where the bloody hell are you? Kinslayer777
Well, actually, the 99.9 percent most likely applies to patched systems. :s i would consider it much higher (and my patched i mean firefox not IE), with nonpatched system/security/browser. Much much higher, well, lower. The biggest issue is clicking things accidently (or so i think with patched gear). And to remember to click "x" not yes or no (the two can be magically switched)
zonda
Like the others said... basically it isn't an issue. Being able to 'bind' a keylogger / trojan - or any exe for that matter with a picture can still be done, but it's an exploit that only works on unsecured and out of date operating systems - so basically if your running windows 2000 without any updates, that would be the only time you would have to fret. ... Yeh, to get to the point ^ (Since i've been sort of making it worse confusing up and muddling replies...) It can also be if you click the link in a pic
