Despite the emphasis on the word "waist" in your sig, it's misspelled on your first post; rather, you used the homophone. But still, you siggied me  .

On topic: Interesting color choice and, lucky for you, it's an alien so I can't complain about anatomy  . A few tips, the colors seem just randomly swirled. Remember to choose a light source and color the object from that light source. Also, you have lots of messy outlines that look like you just used the pencil tool to make them. Look at this:

Blend the colors with the alien's skin a bit and finish it up and it could turn out good. Oh, and anti-alias a bit. AAing is hard to describe so just google it or look at one of the many tutorials on this forum.

aliens are difficult to draw and shade as we don't actually have anything close to this in everyday life, so I would really suggest looking for any references on the net to give you better ideas on how you want your alien to look. Try observe how the light effects them, it will help you with your shading.

This is pretty good for one of your first pixels, it's good to see you being a bit more creative with what you're doing. Aliens rock  . lol, I've noticed you've got 92 colours in this, which was probably an effort to acomplish, simply using the same few shades of the same colour can be just as effective as selecting a whole new shade each time you want the make a part darker.. Even pic out your shades before hand and try only working with them keeping a palette at the top of your work if you find it easier. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

Anyway there's nothing really I can say to make you an expert, just have fun with it and keep at it.

if you need to, check out a few tutorials, lol mine was mentioned. Just a run through of the basics. All user-made tutorials found a third way down this page, Alduron's kindly added a lot of resources info too on this thread.
