November 14, 200619 yr what is a "sticky" post? can moderators only post "stickies?" and what good do they do? lol im so technically challenged
November 14, 200619 yr A sticky is a topic which does not move up or down the forum list. It will stay at the top of the list all the time. Only mods and admins can make them, they are usually used for important things such as rules or annoucments. There is also no need to be imbarrased. We were all learning at one point, you will get it eventually. :)
November 15, 200619 yr Wow am I relieved to see nobody criticising you not knowing what a sticky is. I was worried that people would be making rude comments. And if you are ever embarresed to post a message, then try pming someone who seems to know about it and also is a nice person lol  Thank you everybody for rising up against macroing!!!

Stickies are generally forum-specific and temporary. All topics "move up and down" depending on the last post date, however - stickies and announcements never leave the first page and are always displayed in the above order, announcements first, then stickies, then the rest of the posts. Who can make them depends greatly on the permissions set for the forum. While it is typically mods or higher, it could be setup so anyone can post a sticky (highly unlikely - but still possible) or no one but admins.

I was thinking though - what if you have over a page worth of stickies? :P
November 15, 200619 yr Then I'd be wondering what the hell you were doing with that amount of junk. It'd overflow to another page, but the point is they start on the first page :P
November 15, 200619 yr Don't announcements appear on every page? So what happens if you have over a page worth of announcements? Where the bloody hell are you?
November 15, 200619 yr True, I dunno. Haven't tried that out myself. Edit: Just went and tried, it seems that announcements do not count in the 'topics per page' count. Not sure about stickies either. I'd doubt it. So essentially you could have 1 topic per page, and still have 100 announcements, and you'd still be on page one.
