Video Card

"A video card, (also referred to as a graphics card, graphics accelerator card, display adapter and numerous other terms), is an item of personal computer hardware whose function is to generate and output images to a display. The term is usually used to refer to a separate, dedicated expansion card that is plugged into a slot on the computer's motherboard, as opposed to a graphics controller integrated into the motherboard chipset."

No, you can't get one for free.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

In regard to maplestory, i was under the impression that was a lot less demanding game then rs. Can you not play maplestory?

By the way, yes, people. Rs does use the graphics card even then it's java based :s. I know this for sure, whether the reasoning is this or that, because my Folding@home GPU client gives Rs lag. There we goo...

No, if anything "lags" it would be the IE screen itself

Anyone with a video card - uninstall your drivers and then open up a IE screen and try to scroll up and down with the mouse wheel. Takes ages. Install the drivers and it's fine. It's not RS.

And no, because i can handle perfectly non-graphical sites [Or simply sites with general pics, but not demandingish like rs]. However, perhaps that's merely along your lines and just has to do with it, and because my GPU client is running at max use of 97%

It's not like i have my drivers unistalled in anycase. It's just the GPU client strongly uses the GPU for crunching. I'm not quite sure the meaning of your explanation

You are getting lag in RS because it's a constantly updating section of your screen being pushed threw your GPU. RS does not use the graphics card on it's own (this is why everyone says it doesn't), windows and the Java interpreter do. Most people accept "using" a graphics card as high power games making direct calls to it, not going through 2 other layers of OS and interpreter. Jagex in no way shape or form can make a call to your graphics card for a specific rendering. That's exactly why RS is so CPU intensive and exactly why it's compatible with *any* mainstream system running a full Java install; all because there's no hardware to screw around with.

It may look like RS is using your card, but it's actually windows redrawing that section of screen a lot more due to changes Java is making.

Correlation != causation. Just because you lag under high GPU load doesn't automatically mean it's RuneScape's use of the card creating said lag.
