I don't know what i'm doing wrong (Depressed Player)

Featured Replies

It just seems as though every other player scores money by the billions, and I can't come up with enough scratch to buy rune armor-- much less cool extra stuff like prayer pages. So anyway... I'm getting pretty discouraged.

These are my stats (The ones worth mentioning for money money purposes, anyway):

Combat Level: 79

Health: 64

Attack: 66

Strength: 65

Defense: 60

Prayer: 44

Magic: 60

Runecraft: 50

Mining: 64

Smithing: 55

Fishing: 68

Cooking: 68

Fire Making:54

Woodcutting: 56

Crafting: 52

Oh yeah, i'm also utterly and totally flat broke. I've looked at a lot of money-making faqs but the pay-off always takes sooooooo looooooong. Perhaps i'm just impaitent, but it seems like even when i'm playing the game PURELY with the goal of profit in mind... I still never make enough.

Any ideas on how to make some quick cash? I've probably read just about every scheme there is... but it all seems so futile! I never get anywhere! Yet every other player my level is positively decked out in rune with pieces of dragon armor mixed in. It's driving me crazy, and I wonder if i'm simply inept at this game.

I guess you are a member (from mention of pages & dragon stuff).

So from your levels:

Runecraft 50: Able to craft natures, to sell or use for high alch. Also able to do Chaos for a bit of no-cost mage combat.

Mining 64: Able to mine Mithril

Smithing 55: But not able to do higher profit/alch value stuff in Mithril

Fish/cook 68: Lobster or Swordfish (need some extra levels in magic for the quest to do monkfish)

So "on your own", making and alching steel platebodies (1200 a pop, for 5x iron and 10x coal - or 5x coal if you can blast furnace it).

Selling to other players, I'd say it's Steel bars, Mithril bars, Nature runes, Lobster or Swordfish - always worth having a stock of Lobsters (probably sell better on free worlds, and traded more often than swordies).

Pure essence might be worth a go (traded in member worlds).

Treasure trailing is the only other thing I can think of, going all-out for clue-dropping monsters, and hope you get some (t), (g) or god.

I'm afraid the simple truth is that money is what drives most players. They want to be seen wearing barrows, dragon items at the lowest level possible, to be "cool". These people of your level that are decked out in precious items have probably put twice as much time into the game already.

Are you a member? From your stats I'd say no, but you do talk of dragon armour. I'm not that good at making money myself, so I couldn't give you that much advice. A good thing to do, however, is to "multitask". Always have herbs growing while you're making money elsewhere.

Options (short-term):

- woodcutting: yews and magic logs are good money, if you combine it with fletching, you could high-alch yourself into wealth (once you've got the nature runes)

- fishing lobsters, mining iron ores

- if your range is okay, range blue dragons

- grow ranarrs and sell prayer pots.. even though they are drastically dropping in price. I made my first few millions to get me started...

In the longer run, you can get together a lot of money by investing your time wisely. Yes, you could go out and do wc till you drop down and have a whip to show off. But what will it leave you with? A lot of people claim slayer is no longer a money-maker. Nonsense. I'm not 85 yet and nevertheless I can maintain myself nicely with all the slayer drops. And on top of that, I'm actually gaining xp in all combat skills. A whole lot more useful than just getting wc in the 90's without any other extra non-money profit.

Anyway. Just play the way you want to. Don't let your level peers push you into a gameplay you don't like yourself.

nat crafting through the abyss with pouches,

i can get 1k nats in 45 minutes without really racing.

sell the 1k and you've got enough to get your full rune :)

1000 nature runes in fourty-five minutes? It can't be done, sir. You are quite mad.

I am a member, and i've been one for awhile... my "member" stats are fairly low, however.

How can you do 1k nats in 45mins? Well if you've got 91 rc I suppose you can.

I've only done Nats once, and it was the Gen store, noted ess combo. And I made 500 in 1 hr. Not 50 RC, so only 2 pouches.

Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !

just take all the pouches you can carry

go to edgeville bank and get your pouches filles with ess + inv full of ess.

wear boots of lightness and some light(!) protection against mage (elemental shield).

Don't forget a charged glory for teleport back to edgeville.

And don't forget a pickaxe (needed in the abysss).

Now just run to the zamorak mage and teleport to the abyss, the closest entrance to the middle of the abyss will be either a rock (that's why you need a pickaxe), or an agility shortcut. get through it, run to the nats portal and

teleport to the altar.

Craft your runes and teleport back with your glory to edgeville.

Atm i've got 71rc and i got almost all my levels above 44 using this strategy.

if you don't believe me : no problem.
