Train on the chickens at Falador Farm and use Draynor Bank or on the chickens at Lumbridge Farm and use Lumbridge's New Bank Site on the Castle Roof. Once you have Combat 11, and a nice load of food in the bank, head past draynor until you run into the Level 5 Highwaymen and kill some of them until you get a cape, which will add to your defense amounts just those few vital points. Then after you've killed enough of them and have like Combat 15, use more of your food, restocking as needed, to help you kill barbarians and/or goblins. (Goblins seem to have the surprise abilities of strength pures sometimes, from my personal experience.)
