December 10, 200619 yr I belive this is something that only happens in the US as most other countries have controls over patent abuse. I am 99% sure that in the UK a company cant own a patent purely to get rights from it with no intention to use it themsevles. December 10, 200619 yr The United States Patent Office will allow anyhting though even if you dont have a prototype/model. James Randi routinely finds patent nonsense being sumitted for things like teleportation devices etc and reports them in the Swift Newsletter.
