December 12, 200619 yr Looks good, I can't wait to see the finished result. I think maybe the bricks look to large compared to the wall, Makes everything seem out of proportion. Just my opinion. My dA account..retired, as of the 1st January 2008.
December 12, 200619 yr Would be easier to give you advice if you started the texturing. Can't really say much without giving you an entire tutorial. (and even then I doubt that would be much help to you)
December 12, 200619 yr Author its a tutorial i want  currently searching nearly every pixel site i know for one #-o and im not really that bothered with the linework, its how it is, its the texturing tut i want :XD: i am a fast learner, so i should be able to take knolage from the tut easily : PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
December 12, 200619 yr Well... if i am doing stone walls then i try and outline with a dark color and then move inwards getting lighter... For stone you need two lighter strips at the top and rh or lh of the stone with other darker lines at the bottom... Its pretty difficult to explain.. I'll post a pic as soon as i finish my new pixel... New sigzor^^
December 12, 200619 yr Author that sounds horificly like pillow shading! *forms cross with index fingers* 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
December 12, 200619 yr that sounds horificly like pillow shading! *forms cross with index fingers* weeelll imo I gave up one pixel art (in its purest form) Along time ago... I define myself as a windows painter... I now try and use as many colors as possible to achieve the result I want... I feel that many people try to dither when they could easily use a nice and simple medium color. They end up putting 2x the amount of work into a piece that they need to, and sometimes (with beginers) they get really frustraited when thier dithering doesn't look good. Where as selecting a meduim color you can just draw a straight line through there... Urrg... that got a bit long winded :wall: New sigzor^^
December 12, 200619 yr Author i dont have a major problem with using extra colours, its the style thats pillow shading. basicly lighter in the middle darker at the edges. yeah i want a GOOD tutorial showing you how you can achieve good results. complexity wise i dont mind too much, i just want a texturing quality that matches the rest of my work. (so nothing too good =P) PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
December 12, 200619 yr Dithering is very usefull for texturing, its difficult to get a non- "bubbly" or flat peice without it. Or at least I think so. This was all that I could find, most of my old links are dead :( Good ol' Zoggles... December 12, 200619 yr Author thanks, ill try that out, did have an idea while i was out that im gonna try first tho, will post the results =) PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
December 12, 200619 yr this is only done very quickly, but with bricks/rocks you don't want them to look flat like a smooth wall, each brick should still have relative depth.. You could simply add a highlight at the top and shading at the bottom but in all honestly it just doesn't seem very interesting and no level of dithering will change that, plus it may not be the best lightsource choice.. instead just imagine each brick has a bumpy surface, highlight areas that you would think to be raised and add shadows to add more depth acording to your lightsource.. oh and with that zoggle link, great tips for small bricks but these are much larger and you must combine what you learn with that rocks tut too..
December 12, 200619 yr Author thanks for that ter, ill try that now, i tried something but it really didnt look that good.... #-o will post the results.... PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
