Uh Oh - Virus?

Well I was looking on google and clicked on a link, Then my antivirus came up and i tried to delete the file, But it said it failed, The information was that it was a trojan. Is this similar to a keylogger? It was on a runescape related site so im not logging in to my file until I know its gone. I also cannot find the file and did a scan and it said that it found nothing....... Could it be gone? I hate this :( Especially the fact im trying to get 99wc :cry:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AND IF THE PERSON LOGGING MY COMPUTER CAN READ THIS:

Update definitions on both programs, scan, remove anything they find.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then after that to be realy safe post a hijackthis log. Download it from here

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Usualy if it's a Runescape keylogger he didn't make it himself, he downloaded it from somewhere and is using to put on other computers. Also known as script kiddies.

dude.those r like the basic anti spyware remove tool lol.. so of course they safe. run a virus scan also=)

Chances are with even simple virus scanners you should be able to find and get rid of any foreign file, just make sure you keep updating them whenever you get a chance to, since new viruses are being poured out almost daily now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you're willing to pay for anti-virus software, then get Norton or McAfee (the control freak :P), i think you can get free versions from their websites, but i reckon they're crippled. Although if you ask me, then just stick with free software, it's essentially the same thing.

If you've scanned your computer thoroughly and you've removed the file/placed it in quarantine, then you'll be ok.

Update your McAfee then try scanning your computer in safemode (f8 while booting up, choose safemode)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If it finds something then it should be able to delete it. If not then post the location of the file (path).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Safemode works most of the time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also while your in safemode scan with Ad-aware and spybot. Those'll help.

(rant) Hey, what's with the "hacker is bad" mindset? Hackers are the people responsible for securing your software, and I don't mean in a bad way. There are many professional "white-hat" hackers who work for security companys and create patches. "Hacker" is anyone who modifies there computer to make it do something it was not designed to do, not a person who tries to break into other people's computers. The press has made the the term hacker derogatory, and people consider them bad. I'm a self proclaimed hacker and geek, but I've never done something bad such as break into someone else's computer (unless, they've forgotten their password and requested I do that) Just wanna tell everyone: Hackers are not necessarily bad. (/rant)

 

 

 

Other then that, if you download Spybot and Ad-Aware, then scan your computer after updating your antivirus software, you should be fine.
