Screech1992
I got this problem with my computer: My brother and sister often play online flash games on my pc, like http://www.playplay.com, you know what I mean. Anyway, it makes my 128MB RAM pc very, very slow, and telling them not to play will only get them angry and complain at my mom. So what I'm asking is, how do you block certain web pages? I need to block them in IE, but also in FireFox and Opera, since I've got them all three. I guess I need to edit some text file, but I don't know which one and how... Plz help me or my computer will blow up im afraid :x
Anesthesia
What makes you think playing flash games makes your machine slow later on? Restart the browser after he's played them if you honestly think that's the problem. Anyway, search this forum for "hosts file", it's been posted 10^30 times before. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
Screech1992
Thanks alot I'll search for that. Well I think the games are the problem, because my computer never crashes with, for example, WinAmp, MSN and FireFox running at the same time. But always, always when my little brother and/or sister have played before me, it will crash within 10 minutes with only MSN and FireFox. And today, well, only running FireFox will hold for 15 minutes or so before I have to restart for the 10^30th time again :? But anyway Ill try some things out... I have tried all available virus scans and system cleans but I didn't help yet...
Vape
I second Anesthesia's suggestion - close and reopen Firefox and it'll be all good. Blocking your siblings from using certain websites will just result in pain. Where the bloody hell are you?
BlueLancer
With personal experience, I'd actually have to slightly disagree. I used a low-RAM computer for a long time years ago, and I can tell you that any program that hogged even a part of the RAM for a slight time period did slow down the machine a *lot*, such as logging in to runescape (which mostly uses CPU); I could say goodbye to trying to browse emails or forums after that without a reboot. But as said, search your computer for a file called 'hosts' (no file extension, open with notepad to modify) and add URL's there. :)
Screech1992
Ok, thanks guys :) I did system defragmentation, and I think it has helped, because everything is going well now... Yay, listening to Metallica and checking mail at the same time :
Boogityboo04
One question, why are you still using a computer w/ 128 mb of RAM? What is that, windows 95 quality or so? You could probably get a better computer for free if you asked around... That way you wouldn't need to worry about playing *high def* flash games : rotalsnarT laciffOSolving the confusion once and for all
Anesthesia
It is obviously a family PC, perhaps he isn't in charge of their technology budget. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
Screech1992
Yeah my dad got me this pc for myself, I'm getting a new one in the summer. the RAM will be about 20 times its now =D One more question: i got the hosts file, and it says you have to type down the internet adress of your choice, but also an IP-adress. Does dat IP has to be the IP of my own pc? If so, how do I know my IP. If not, how do I know which IP i should fill in?

Hitman247m
0.128 * 20 = 2.56  Thing is tho, theres 1024 mb in a gig, so ya....
Cruiser
You guys are still wrong. You should also be smacked for arbitrarily changing the 128mb to a decimal. :shame: 128mb times 20 = 2560mb 2560mb / 1024 per gig = 2.5gb (yes it's exact)
