PhelimReagh
I've never done Barrows, although I've spent a good deal of time reading the guides as I prepare for my first trip. In those guides and on threads discussing Barrows, quite a few terms and concepts are discussed casually that I don't have a full understanding of quite yet. Here goes: 1. "Tunnel Brother" Does this mean that every time you enter the Tomb, one brother is pre-determined to be the one waiting in the tunnel? Or can you always choose who will be your Tunnel Brother, by leaving him until last? Or have I so misunderstood this concept that the above question makes no sense? If so, would you clarify? 2. With the exception of Veracs, if you always have "Protect From Melee/Range/Magick" on, will you ever take damage? I see folks recommend food in the various guides, and I'm wondering if this is just for those folks who don't mind fighting these dudes without prayer, or just in case prayer runs out? Or is the food solely for when Veracs hits you through prayer? 3. "Kill Count": I've heard this terms numerous times, and I want to understand it more. Theoretically, you kill 5 brothers, and 1 in the tunnel, and collect your reward. At that point, does your Kill Count=6? If so, you get higher Kill Counts by killing additional brothers over and over again before killing their "Tunnel Brother"? What is the purpose of a higher Kill Count? Does a higher Kill Count factor into the type of reward you get in the end? Does a higher Kill Count increase the likelihood of a better reward? 4. Can I leave the Barrows with a certain Kill Count, wander over to Burgh de Rott, resupply, come back down and continue? If I can, is it worth it? Thanks for the help. Sk4terpunk90
1. You can not choose your tunnel brother. When you search each tomb, 1 of the six will say something to the effect of "do you want to go down this tunnel". Say no, kill all the other brothers and go back to it. The tomb of which you could go in the tunnel will be your tunnel brother. 2. Id have to leave this question unanswered. Im not sure. 3. After you kill every brother you will have a kill count of 6. You can get this up by killing the various creatures in the tunnel. These are mostly bloodvelds, skeletons, and some other stuff. The kill count does increase your chance of a reward. youll find a number you like after a few runs. I suggest staying between 10-25 4. Again, sorry. Im not sure. PhelimReagh
Thanks, Skater. Based on your reply in clarifying #3, the answer to #4 is irrelevant. It's all starting to get clearer now...
glasscube
Some people like to only use a dose of pray pot, so they bring food. You could say bring 6 monkfish and like 3 pray pots... And pray against everyone, but you'd lose more money. Wether higher Kill Count improves your reward is always up for debate. I dont think anyone has found any proof of this that cant be put down to luck. I dont think you get any bloods and bolt racks if you only get 6 kc though. Not sure on this. And, you can leave barrows at any time. However, leaving say half way through you use a lot of time on one run to the chest. Bombing_7000
1. Or is the food solely for when Veracs hits you through prayer? Both... Even though verec hit through prayer some player ice barrage them... but food is a must for every single brother.. 3. "Kill Count": I've heard this terms numerous times, and I want to understand it more. Theoretically, you kill 5 brothers, and 1 in the tunnel, and collect your reward. At that point, does your Kill Count=6? You may kill another creature underground and your kil lwill go up. But you have to kill all 6 brothers, you may search the chect without killing the 6th brother.. but the itmes will be horrible.. ~BOM
Sjakie_1_1_3
I think all questions are answered except for number 2... You won't take any damage if you have the protect prayers on (except for verac). There are 3 reasons though you need to take food. 1. For Verac - He hit's through prayer 2. For the monsters in the tunnels - There are lot's of monsters in the tunnels. And they do hit sometimes. 3. For Guthan and Torag - When your def. lvl is 65+ it will be cheaper to NOT use prayer on those 2. As the prayer pots will cost you more than the food you need. They don't hit often, but they can hit up to 24. You will need abit of food when fighting them. But it will still be cheaper then using prayer pots. Captainkidd
1. "Tunnel Brother" Does this mean that every time you enter the Tomb, one brother is pre-determined to be the one waiting in the tunnel? Or can you always choose who will be your Tunnel Brother, by leaving him until last? It is never the same Brother, Yes leave for last 2. Yes Bring prayer pot so you can use prayer on all brothers, People say to bring food for Veracs and your kill count 3. "Kill Count": I've heard this terms numerous times, and I want to understand it more. Theoretically, you kill 5 brothers, and 1 in the tunnel, and collect your reward. At that point, does your Kill Count=6? Higher the kill count more money, runes, you get. I suggest you Use all but 1 food on your kill count to get the most out of your run. If so, you get higher Kill Counts by killing additional brothers over and over again before killing their "Tunnel Brother"?You can only kill each brother once I belive What is the purpose of a higher Kill Count? Does a higher Kill Count factor into the type of reward you get in the end? Does a higher Kill Count increase the likelihood of a better reward? Yes higher the kill count the more runes, money you get it also gives you a better chance of getting a barrows iteam. 4. Can I leave the Barrows with a certain Kill Count, wander over to Burgh de Rott, resupply, come back down and continue? If I can, is it worth it? I am not sure, I would just stay in the tunnel and use up all but 1 food on your kill count. Thanks for the help. No problem
