I've been playing guitar ever since september (I know not that long). And I have the amount of skill that someone has that has only been playing for 3-4 months. But by valentines day I want to be good enough to sing/play a song that I composed.

As for song writing advice... I'm not sure, because all the music I write just comes to me kind of. As for playing the guitar, just keep practicing every day, try to learn lots of new things.

Do what you think works is all the advice I can give.

Persistence is key, is pretty much all I can say. I took up digital keyboard last Spring and I'm already on the brink of playing live in a metal band. Spend as much of your free time practicing as possible, it pays off.

If you have a song that you composed, then you shouldn't need advice on how to play it, as it's your song. If you don't have a song yet and you're running out of time, learn "Valentine" by the Get Up Kids. It's easy and relevant :P

Work on your breathing lots. I mean, hold your breath a lot and learn some scales. :)

 

 

 

Just use chords for a song. It'll make it much easier ;D

I blow at singing but i enjoy so i just sing and get better at it all the time :P
