January 13, 200719 yr ya you guys aren't getting this, but I accept that it is my fault for lack of being able to explain it. I dunno. and Mercifull, are you not feeling forced to conform to the specific trend of 'difference' that you are your friends do. If you were to start doing other stuff, then would your friends still like you? It kinda dosen't really work that way. Conformity (in its most common context) is appealing to the masses for the sole purpose of being 'like' them. I've had friends come up with the argument - "but by being a non-conformist, your conforming to non conformity". In the case of the context of the word conformity mentioned above, that's not true at all.
January 13, 200719 yr If they say they don't like whatever, they probably haven't given it a chance. Try introducing it to them and they might like it. And if that doesn't work, you might befriend them in the process. If that doesn;t work try to find something in common, if you can't chances are you wouldn't be very good friends with them, anyway. I'm the only one (in my school most likely) who likes Nightwish and symphonic metal and all the music stuff from Finland, and my friends accept it. In fact they might even like a song or two lol. They may not like the majoroity of it it but they don't really care that I like it lol.
January 14, 200719 yr The word "normal" doesnt exist. Some phsycopathical freak may be thought as that by people, but the freak may think the same about the other person. Being "normal" is just being yourself, not going out and doing "normal" things. Um, obviousely it does exist. It is not only used in a conformity issue. It is also used in science in math while dealing with elements, matrices, and a lot of other stuff. Don't assume just because you dont like the concepts a certain word conveys you can just obbliterate it's existence. You cant. If youre not normal than your a mutant. If you have three arms i love you. If you dont oh well your normal, just like everyone else. Congratualations. And you COULD always bring up topics of stuff you do know while around your friends. You CAN be the discussion leader. No harm in that. thanks everyone for the sigs!
January 14, 200719 yr Author alright, screw this thread, I just have this tendency to come and rant on tip.it whenever I get pissed off. I really don't have that bad of a problem.
