Chezy_Boi
In the quest Contact, a pre-guide released in tip.it forums says to use protect mage with melee armour. Im level 100, 76 atk 75 def 92 str and 57 prayer. Its 3-0 to the scarab. It goes through my whole invo of sharks before it gets to half health. Im concentrating on scarab only, dds specing then d scimmy. Full rune. So... Any other way? 1800+ TOTAL LVL --- 1170+ F2P TOTAL --- 266+ QuestPoints, Proud Owner Of A Quest Cape =========================||Check out my blog||=========================

icecube
Here's what I did: I was a bit worried about the Giant Scarab but I found it not to be that difficult (I'm level 102). I just used a Dragon Scimitar and DDS specials, used a super set and prayed Protect from Melee and Incredible Reflexes. I stood next to Kaleef's Body so only the Giant Scarab, Mage Locust, and Ranger Locust could attack me. Used around 4 sharks and 1 prayer potion dose. My stats are 84 Attack, 80 Strength and 85 Defense. If melee still doesn't work for you, I heard mage rips apart the Giant Scarab.
Sjakie_1_1_3
Use mage. I'm lvl 89 combat (70 att, str, and def). And did a giant total of 6 damage on the scarab before I had to tele. Next time I tried to mage (using a combinations of melee and mage armour for a positive mage bonus and a good def bonus). And I killed the scarab in only 11 Iban blasts. (lvl 77 mage). Sjakie_1_1_3
Yes I prayed mage. But I'm not sure what's best to pray. It seems like they all hit you high. But when you stay out of melee range from the big scarab it will not melee you. So either use range or mage prayer. I used Iban blast because it has a max hit of 25. Which is better than any of the normal spells. I hit quit a few 20+ hits on the scarab. But fire wave or fire blast would do pretty good too I think. rft
It took me 2 goes to take out the scarab. The first time, I prayed melee, got him down to 1/4 health before my monkfish/prayer ran out. I came back with a pray pot and more food and just about killed it the second time (although I forgot to bring a dds). However, I have heard that a good technique is to kill the mage as soon as he spawns. This is the dude that does the damage esp if you are melee praying with melee armour on. Just equip a few prayer pots and make sure that you take out the mage (and ranger) before you concentrate on killing the scarab again. I guess that a superset cant hurt either. Chezy_Boi
I used a friends technique, dds/scimmy. Karils, rune helm, melee pray. 4 monks used, super set, no prayer pots. I couldn't beileve my eyes when I killed it! 1800+ TOTAL LVL --- 1170+ F2P TOTAL --- 266+ QuestPoints, Proud Owner Of A Quest Cape =========================||Check out my blog||=========================

Shazarabbit
I used Veracs with protect from mage on and it took me 3 minutes if that to kill. Try a super set and if that doesn't work perhaps try only attacking the Scarab. Turn retaliate off and click manually.
