issy2
Helenia sat motionless on the hard, cold metal of the castle fountain. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't cry, she could barely feel her skin. Haggard was dead. The guard put his arm round her, smiling comfortingly. 'Close, were you?' he asked soothingly. 'Yes - I mean, no, no, no, I don't know, I only knew him a few months. Please, just leave me alone,' 'Alright,' the guard agreed. 'Take care, miss,' Helenia knew she had to find him, see his silent eyes once more before she left the city. Helenia pushed herself gingerly up, and walked unsteadily across the yard and out into the quietly deserted Square. The elf woman felt a burst of anger bubbling inside her, and with a scream of rage the flimsy paper note bearing Haggard's last words to her was flung into the water of the fountain. She watched it flutter in the bubbles for a few seconds, before it sank to the ground and lay, tattered, among coins and pendants. This isn't fair, she thought, the anguish rising inside her. I need to find him, and everything will be ok. I just want to see him, one last time...

Fist_of_ozzy
Haggard was lifted up from the ground. "Am I dead?" He was in a field where a girl was picking flowers. She was wearing a dress and humming a song. I looked to my left and saw a familiar village. 'This is my hometown....' I said to myself. Elves wandered in the streets and kids were playing outside. The woman turned around, and it was......Helenia? "Helenia, Wait!" She started to walk towards me smiling. I smiled also, I had finally found my peace. She came to me closer and dissapered. The ground started to become mud, and the grass, the trees, and the plant all died and turned into mud. I Could hear people from the village screaming. The village was on fire, and people were running from the invanding army. "NO!" I cried out. This is what happened, this was the war. My childhood.....ruined. This war had happened when I was a young boy, maybe about Five years of age. I watched my people die and heard a voice behind me call out my name. issy2
'HAGGARD!' Helenia screamed, torn by grief. Helenia didn't know where she was - a barren, empty plain, the corpses of homes and halls and farms crumbling in seconds around her. No people except her and Haggard - no, she was fading away, she could barely see herself anymore, Haggard's lifefull body was being engulfed in waves of fire and flames. Soon all that was left was a tiny child wandering the streets of a wilderness inside his own head. A small boy, four or five, looking for his mother. He was confused, dazed; lost. Helenia forgot the Haggard she knew, and she was not the only one. She stretched out her arms to the child and he staggered towards her. With the beating of his heart in her arms Helenia did something she hadn't done for many years. She cried, tears of empathy for the child washing away their pain. 'Sssh, it's alright. It's alright, I promise. I'll look after you. I won't leave you. I promise, just stay with me, don't go away..' Helenia choked. The child didn't cry. He put his head on her chest and fell fast asleep, sheltered from cruelty by the warm arms of Helenia. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Helenia staunched her own sobs with a cry of fear. She was back in her room at the inn, but where was Haggard?! She had seen him, touched him, heard him, only moments ago. Coming slowly to her senses she remembered visiting the Mortuary, and staring, horrified, at the body of her friend. Shuddering, Helenia recalled falling to the ground in a cold faint, then, barely distinguishable from the medley of anguished memories, being lifted by someone or something strong and kind, or was it her doing the lifting? Being laid in her bed at Haggard's inn, waking at dawn....Dreams or reality? She didn't care. All she knew was that there were tears on her pillow as she stumbled out of bed to the cupboard, wrenching open the doors she pulled out her turquoise gown, black breeches and tunic, a purple cloak, jewellery, and the other few possessions she called her own. She stuffed them all in her case and hurried out of the door. No longer would she stay in this accursed, god-forsaken inn, however much Haggard would have wanted her to look after it. Xewleer
IT was night, but they had not yet caught up with fienrir, in the Wilderness, that was once the lands of twilight... they were waiting for dawn. Hylean took the watch, and made sure that nothing came to disturb them. Alexia woke up later, hylean was trying hard to remember something, his face was all screwed up in his attempts. His face returned to its usual pallor, then sighed. "come on Alexia, you know I know when someone is no longer sleeping. What do you need?" She got up slowly and sat beside him. "you know." "I do." "This is going to be bad for us isn't it, Hylean!" "What? Its not that I saw anyone pass on to the next realm or anything." She lowered her head and turned it at an angle where her hair covered her expressions, but her voice cracked. "It has been so long since we swore our love for each other! So long we have waited! So long..." She leaned down, leaning her head against his chest. "I don't care how it ends! I never have! I just want to know about the present! What are we going to do after this stinking war! I want you to settle down, and you too want this! To be married!" Hylean laid his head against hers, she didn't have to look up to see his expression, or know what he was doing. "Do not assume that I ever wanted to postpone the marriage, or when I had to cancel it! Only you truly know all my emotions. Its time I told th..." "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT I WANT YOU!!!!" She had unfortunately shouted this, a moment of awkward silence ensued. Hylean hugged her to himself tightly, letting himself fall asleep on her shoulder, and she let him, It was decided... as soon as the opportunity, no matter what, they would wed. sephiroth_king
The raven flew gently upon Fienrir's injured arm. He had been traveling in the darkness of the wilderness for day's---Vad'Idliens horrible ruins. Maybe running from Hylean isn't the answer...But I have no choice. I don't want to get him tangled with this... So Fienrir pressed further, as dawn broke. The Twilit area he was contained in was strong, making his arm throb, as he heard Argarok's voice within him: Why do you run? Even I'm becoming terribly weak, I'm acting nice to you! That's not a good sign. Fienrir silently chuckled, as he rested and opened the note: Fienrir, What the Hell are you trying to prove? Ranguvar isn't too happy with this. Nor am I or Alexia. Are you trying to prove you are a man? That you are strong? You won't win my sister over like this...But it's not just her, it's all of us. I'm worried about you, too. What if you die? What if you are dehydrated by the time we find you (And it won't be a very pretty sight if we find you)? The point is...Just pick an area to camp, we want to talk. Your Friend, Hylean Nice letter. But I can't break this way. Fienrir thought, as he pulled a piece of parchment from his pack, then a quill, as he began to write: Hylean, I'm not trying to prove anything. Nothing at all, I'm not even trying to be a man. And if you want to know the truth about me, about the full intent of my destiny and my past...Then I will discuss it with you in person...With Alexia and Ranguvar...Anyway, the man I'm tracking...I've fought him, somewere, some place...But he seems to be---stronger. I fear I don't have enough stamina Fienrir felt light headed, as he collapsed, and the raven snached the letter, flying back to Hylean's distant location. Xewleer
Zalm walked into the bastion of karomaz ignoring the guards who attempted to stop him. "Zower sent me, he wants the reports, Zower did not like to have Zacon destroyed. Zower is unhappy." The king, in all his power, shuddered. Zower? unhappy? that did not bode well for him, he was perhaps of the few who knew what Zower could do, truly do when exerted, and feared. Darkness of the twilight, is neither light nor darkness, so can neither be affected by both. Even Zaros was wary of Zower. "Zower requires that you send a force out to capture three majharrat spawn, Children of more powerful people than themselves. It is, after all, a debt to be repayed." All this was said in a emotionless voice, the face had no emotion, neither did the hands or the stance. It was... heartless. The figure on the throne, indistinguishable, made no comment. ------------------ Hylean, Alexia and Ranguvar hurried to where Fienrir lay, Ranguvar reaching there first. She tried to wake him, but he was not about to wake up yet. Hylean, panting slightly (though he put up a good show, the part of the wound that involved his lungs had not truly healed) took out the water bottle and attempted to revive Fienrir. Alexia stood guard above, on a hill. She called out a warning and the trio, dragging FIenrir as best as possible, hid in a great thicket of bushes, a brown version of the hedge. Drums were heard, a great many soldier's feet appeared and disappeared, and then it was quiet for a moment, then great thumpings and hammerings were heard, the twilit King still had some creatures which had not been introduced in his last war! These were war elephants! From a land to the east, war elephants of the most frightful nature! taller than the tallest African elephant, with towers and all manner of war on them, one even had a giant ballista! Then all was truly quiet, except Ranguvar slight weeping over Fienrir's unconscious body. ------------------------ Zalm looked over the army assembled at the twilit castle and sent them out. He knew they would miss the trio he was after. He was hoping they would at least. (hope is not the right word, can you hope unemotionally?) And decided to wait beside the shadow of the bastion, where the physical gate to the sunless was hidden in a cave, accessible only to those of majharrat blessing or blood. archimage_a
*Sigh* Still no idea where the 'under-earth' this story is going... But anyway... _________ Aquan felt the icy chill of the wind biting into him. He had been windwalking far to long, and was getting no where fast. A sharp [bleep]e of pain run down his spine, he had definately been windwalking too long. He tried to clear his head but the stolen glance at Helenia...Kept coming back. He sighed, turn to the side of the road, it was were she had left him. The back of his head still thumped... and yet there was something about her, he couldn't place it. "Damn" he thought to himself, "Your in love again, damn it! How can you let this happen to you." He looked down at the side of the road. He had been walking in circles, a few minutes the other way and he would see Varrock again...no doubt now it would be in the hands of the attackers. No point heading for Falador now.... it would have been too late anyway. He could carry a few, maybe five, not enough to turn the tide of this war though. "Hmmm, self loathing, how strange. Some how I have to help and here I am looking at my flaws." He frowned, letting out an empty laugh. He looked up, there was no one else in sight, "Must still be in Varrock, well maybe some of them are up ahead..." He walked a little way. Nothing. In fact there didn't seem to be any life at all. "Stranger and stranger...". Falador looked deserted. "What on Zaros is happening?" He went to the bar, still nothing. The upstairs room, also deserted. Walter never left there. There was clearly something up. Something was clearly not as it was supposed to be. The painting, it wasn't changed, it was just different. Aquan slowly felt the icy cold grip grope around him. Instincts took over, he went to windwalk. The grip faded, but the painting, it was again different, but different in the opposite way. Some how he was outside of Windwalking, outside of normal, outside of everything. Back to when he was younger, only a year ago. It seemed so distant. First time he had made it, first time he had wind walked, there was something strange, like the same sort of feeling. That time had been different, he had a girl friend, someone to support him. Cradle him as his bones set again. Windwalking was dangerous, a loose partical could mean weeks of agony. Such a fool he had been. Just last year, he would have stayed to fight in Varrock, couldn't careless about the odds, just wanted to fight. That was before, before she died. It wasn't his fault, but he should have done something. "Just a short trip", he had said "Not far at all.". Her body lied mangled. It seemed like such a good idea at the time. Walking on water was so simple, he thought. Said he did it all the time. She went first, the cool waves washing up against her. Then something happened, the water just went though her. She had shriked in pain. He had tried to do something, throw a line. But she slumped. Down into the waves, body turned back normal, water trapped. Someone grabbed her when they saw her. Parts of her exploded out, water forcing it way out. He felt the salt water run down his face. It burned a little. No more than rain. He looked out the window, the moat seemed to rise and fall, as if it was somehow a sea. Normally it meant nothing, stray wind perhapes....But this was Windwalking, only the wind moved. He looked again at the picture, the faintest tone of blue... Waterwalking? Was that even possible? If it was then why was he Windwalking as well? They were opposites. They would cancel each other out...surely? He thought a moment. Windwalking was just a matter of thinking your atoms free of their bonds. Could it be that he was somehow, now thinking his atoms into a water sheath? "It was like moving my arm." He always said when she asked him how he did it, "I don't know how it just sort of happens when I will it to." He willed himself to stop being in a water sheath. He knew it wasn't that simple, but it was the only thing he had. Minutes passed, he cleared his mind again. Felt a tingle in his spine, a steady drip. Drip. Drip. Suddenly he had tea over his head and the cup to go with it. "What the, Aquan what are you doing? And why are you soaking wet?" ___ Just devoloping a story of my own here, still part of the main but since everyone seems to have no connection to my prior posts I might as well carry on like this. Bring myself back in when I need to. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts. Fist_of_ozzy
"Who are you?" Haggard asked. The man was large and had a grey cloak on, and a hood that surrounded his face. "I am death." "Oh, you're death? What kind of joke is this?! There is no man named death, it's a child fantasy!" "No, For I am no man." Haggard nervously laughed "Oh really, you're the grim reaper?" "No." "Then what are you?" "That is not the point, and that is not why you are here. I showed this too you for a reason." Haggard grabbed the man and started to punch him "YOU BASTARD! YOU TOOK THE ONLY PERSON AWAY I LOVE!" The man got up and calmy said "Folllow me." "Is this some kind of joke, Listen buddy i'm getting the hell out of here without your help, k?" The destroyed surrounding turned into the streets of varrok. "This is present day haggard." He saw helenia. "How do I get out of here?"
sephiroth_king
"We were very fortunate to find this place..." The relieved voice of Hylean echoed in the cave. "If anything, they will attack the front of Edgeville, killing off it's only defenses and destroying the troops that inhabit it." He sighed. "I don't think Fienrir will wake anytime soon, either..." Alexia sighed. "But we can't give up hope just yet. The only thing we can do is pray and wait for his revival. Until then, we're stranded here." "But we don't even have enough food to last us a week!" Ranguvar said sorrowfully. "Please, brother, try to wake him up!" Fienrir heard Ranguvar's plea; he couldn't feel any of his muscles, but he listened intently to the rest of the conversation. "If Saradomin, or Guthix, or whomever roams the heavens---if they don't will it, then what's the use?" Hyleans exasperated voice rung through the cave like a hummingbirds fluttering wing. Fienrir became angered at this remark: "Hylean...If they don't will it? You should be saying if I don't will it." He opened his eyes, instantly adjusting to the dim-lit darkness of the cave, Ranguvar smiling and weeping at the same time, and Hyleans face lit up and happy, as was Alexia's. "Fienrir..." Hylean walked over to the small fire they had built, giving warmth and light. Ranguvar hugged Fienrir, Hylean not suprised. "What happened?" "What has happened to me has already happened to me...What was past is now past, and there is no more to be said. But Hylean, I feel as though my truthfullness towards all of you isn't being truthfull enough, so I must say what I need to say...Then, I will rest." So Fienrir began his long story, his tale of the war, Tiresias the prophet, he being the Advent...He being Guthix. After, everyone was astounded. "You...Are Guthix?" Hylean exclaimed. "Partially. Only when my God form will's it; otherwise, no." "And what of Fenrir?" Hylean asked. "Fenrir?" Fienrir said. "He's my angelic form, but everything I told you must be figured out by you. Now, I shall rest; you put the pieces together." So he layed back down, as Hylean and the two girls were left with pieces to a jigsaw puzzle; one that may or may not be easily solved. Xewleer
(very nice! how will Ranguvar feel?) Zalm heard the reports, they were not in the wilderness, or in Edgeville, they had looked... He merely sent them back to their king. Zower, a shadow conversation of dark things... He left his position, he would have to draw them out. ------------- ......... ......... ......... accurately described the trio's reaction... They excused themselves, and went farhter into the cave. "What do you think of it, we tell him were majharrat and he tells us he's a god, not just any god, Guthix, and a demon, and a wolf!" "You doubt him?" "Alexia, I don't know what makes sense... these past days are so hectic." "We must help him brother, we are powerful in our own rights! And..." "We know, sis, Alexia and I know your feelings we felt the same when we first met." "yes Ranguvar, we feel a different sort, but it is still love, a self-sacrificing love." Fienrir lifted himself a bit. "You lot are the worst whisperers I have seen yet!" The trio, embarrassed, finished their discusion in more quiet terms. ------- Zalm watched the cave, yes people were in there, he could smell the majharrat in there. he readied his weapon, a modfied short bow designed to shoot many arrows at once. he went in, he saw Fienrir and saw his chance. "Hey you three! look what I have, your friend!" He tossed his hostage (who had been knocked unconscious before reaction came in) he drew his bow and fired at random, not aiming much. Alexia got a scratch across the side of her face, Hylean had his weapon ready. Zalm, seeing his reaction, fired them rapidly at the girls, Fienrir, had regained his senses and attempted to interpose, but Hylean got ahead of him. "my turn, Bye Bye baby!" and was shot full of arrows. "Hylean!" rose from two feminine voices, Fienrir roared and charged at the Sunless general, but missed because Zalm merely used his dark powers to move along a shadow on the wall, completely invulnerable. Hylean had just uttered his last breath in that body, Zalm picked the corpse up. "wouldn't you ladies love to bury him, well, you can't Fienrir! you know where a certain castle is, come and fight me again! And you majharrat! You will know the way back when you reach it!" And he disappeared, taking the body with him. Fienrir rushed out, attempting to see the man, but he was gone. Alexia was inconsolable, refusing the shoulder of Fienrir (which he offered, and Ranguvar accepted) preferring only one other mans shoulder, and he was beyond her reach for a long time. In her mind she wondered why. Why? He said no one was going to die, just change, why? Xewleer
OK! here we go!!! I'm back! I'm pumped! Let's finish this! Ranguvar stood in dumb silence for a mere second... Alexia feeling as if she was torn by dogs... And Fienrir, realizing that he had lost a good friend and powerful ally... All showed their sorrow. Alexia, nearly maddened by the shock of the loss, refused the shoulder of Fienrir which Ranguvar had accepted, and she sunk down and wept. Ranguvar wept. Fienrir wept. All was sad. Zalm watched this, he heard it, he felt it... and it pleased him. Hylean's body had disintegrated... showing his Majharrat heritage. It would not be long now... It was a long time before they could move again. The armies were still out there. But when they moved they found themselves hounded to a point. A stamp or clash of arms in one direction forced them toward another. Eventually they found the castle, Zalm was waiting for them. "Greetings, I would welcome you in, but there is a prerequisite... it involves my death at your hands." He lifted his hands and his twilit bow appeared. "Well then... ring the door bell!" Alexia moved with blinding speed... multiple arrows slammed into Zalm... Fienrir took advantage, nearly decapitating Zalm. But Zalm was quick and he dodged, so that he was hit with the flat of the blade. Ranguvar was waiting for him... "Earth wave!" Lines of earth spiraled up her arms, she brought them together and a spear of earth cut Zalm in two. She stood up in amazement... was that murderer smiling? Fienrir patted her shoulder, Alexia, using instinct from her heritage as majharrat, opened the portal to the sunless world. It was a sunless world, the shattered remnant of what was a moon once shone too brightly, so that it was an over cast sky. Great skyscrapers were everywhere, some showing entire floors missing... but it was strangely clean. As i someone with a big broom had swept it away to a great dustbin. Zoume and Zoute, laughing, appeared. "Hey sister! It is those two girls we met earlier!" "Aye sister! And look! It is that half breed hero! Who knows what he is inside! With such strange look in his soul!" "Kya ha ha ha! True sister! But now let us let those weaklings follow us to the secret area! or maybe we should fight?" "Kee hee hee hee! Lets fi-" Zoute did not finish her sentence. A air wave had knocked her off her high horse (so to speak). Zoume looked away for a second from the trio and was hit by arrows. Fienrir attempted to stab Zoume, but Zoute got in the way, blocking the sword with her claws. "Sister! tell Father our guests have arrived!" "Aye sister!" Zoume started running away, Alexia and Ranguvar followed at Fienrir's bidding. Zoume, knowing that she was being followed, ran straight for one of the biggest towers on the landscape. Fienrir noted the direction and turned his attention to Zoute, who jumped away, running in a different direction. Sighing, he ran after her. Alexia and Ranguvar reached the tower as Zoume disappeared into it. Suddenly there was a crash and boom and a small gasp. A figure was seen through the glass windows, but it disappeared before they could know what it was. As they went in, a shadow moved over them and they were separated. Fienrir, now quite tired of chasing, saw an opportunity and threw his sword, skewering Zoute. He ran back to where he knew the tower was and went in. It was an empty, ghostly building, full of sounds and ancient thoughts. Fienrir, who was feeling quite out of place, felt creeped out. Eventually, he heard breathing and quiet sobs. Ranguvar was outside a door, on her knees, weeping into her elbow. She heard him and looked up, happiness spreading across her face like a rainbow, but it was still raining. "We found his body, it was all cut up, Alexia is in there now, she wants a moment alone." Fienrir nodded, then, quick as lightning, he found himself pinned against a wall and punched repeatedly until he was knocked out. Ranguvar, shocked by who it was, was overpowered and similarly knocked unconscious. Alexia, alone and sad, did not hear the footsteps. A whisper in her ear felt over powering to her. "Come, my love, if you wish to join me... come." She did not see who it was, but she felt a familiar presences. She came to that voice... Outside the sunless realm and into twilight. A soldier was there, a mere spear man. He saw the opportunity and took it, killing her with one thrust. A shadow, a sunless shadow, appeared next to him, slaying him with a blow with a halberd. The sunless shadow hurried back to a certain room that he had been in merely five minutes before and waited... how much would she grow? would she know what he did? would she be angry? would she... Fienrir woke up, his head, being caressed by Ranguvar. He could feel that he was very puffy in the face... he could also feel that Ranguvar had kissed each bruise. Ranguvar looked up. Two figures, side by side, male and female, as close as husband and wife, were looking at them. The male shadow spoke first "You know us, and you know what I did... and what I love... and what..." he stopped a moment. "Alexia is with me, but we cannot finish what is started. Ranguvar, Fienrir." The Female figure (in case you haven't figured, Alexia.) Spoke next "Finish the mission. You cannot kill Zower, but you can stop him, locking him away. Ranguvar can do this, your instinct will tell you what to do... Fienrir, I speak for Hylean and myself when I say that, that you must protect her. Goodbye. She disappeared. The male figure (that's Hylean) disappeared too. "goodbye" Fienrir looked at Ranguvar, she looked at him, a whole encyclopedia of knowledge, summed up with, yes, I do, was passed between them. The doorway was closed. The Sunless realm forever closed. The four characters led lives that gave them contentment. Alexia and Hylean were married at someone else's marriage. They gained all the happiness they wanted but one, but they did not care. For, every now and then, a child will be born with a strange sense of duty and fighting skills. Fienrir and Ranguvar, they had adventures, what they are... is not for me to tell... but who knows? maybe they did have a child, or get married, or even one died in another's arms. It's not my story. It's finally finished, The Role Playing Story is officially over!
