Jokensu
Hello there, This is the first time I have posted here and wanted to put my idea across to both the staff and other players of the game. Though as members we do have the chance to pay and play for games online. There are some less fortunate people in other countries and also in the same countries as we live who do not have the chance to sit in a warm home and play video games like we do. Though in no way am I to say what Jagex do with the money we pay for membership I would like to suggest a 'Charity Day' for Runescape. Once every year, a Charity Day is held and on that day the cost for one days members is donated from users ( If Jagex didnt want to donate the money this could be optional for players ) It wouldnt deduct your 'day' of members it would just donate the money you have paid towards Charity. Maybe this could give the Jagex staff chance to interact with players and host mini events? Such as random monster spawns etc.. Just an idea that crossed my mind one night. Let me know what you think. Thank you. The above post was taken from my thread on the official forums. Just wodnered your opinions and views on the idea. supermonk
Because I'm sure all those people that can't afford 5 bucks a month in those poor, starving countries in the middle east somehow afford a computer and the internet... Supermonk, proving you wrong since 1992. Supermonk rocks, I want to have his children.Music is like candy. You always get rid of the rapper. Giordano
Oh come on! They can afford $5 if the tried, if they have a computer they're capitable of... I'll much rather give my $5 to a starving family in Central America than to a kid who can just cut a neighbor's lawn or something for membership. Heavyarms
I don't believe he is intending it in the way you guys are slamming him... I think he means a charity day in which RS members donate $5 to something like UNICEF or the Red Cross. I don't like either of those organizations, but I do agree with the idea. I'd like to see it. Since most of the people who play RS are younger, it'd give them a bit more of a reason to see what's going on around them, make a difference. Gets a +1 from me! It's a Gundam! If this is the reason i agree, but if its to give another person members then i strongly don't. Jokensu
The reason for this is not to supply members to another person but as a community donate to an organised charity. This does not mean to say it goes to different countries, there are such things as Cancer Research etc. The donation is not 5$ of the money, but for that charity day, I think it works out at 15 cents? ( Sorry Im english ).
Montezuma
Yes, you are correct. About 15cents. .15 times the current amout of members wich would be in the 50,000 maybe. That is about $7,500 U.S. dollars. That seems like a good idea I guess. Note that the number 50,000 was just a guess.
tzone92
There are actually about 850,000 members. .15*850 000=$127 500 That's a lot of money that could help a charity. you know there is a place called outside, better graphics 100% pvp and no fee to play :-w

scruff636b
there is no need for an entire day. just perhaps every 2 months a quarter of the oney made from membership is donated somewhere. preferably not in north america or other countries that are large and may use the money for what it is not intended for nuff said? stop flaming his blimin idea, its one of the first i like! Montezuma
Really there are that many??? Geeze. Lol yup  I just know that there are about 200,000 people who play daily, you can see it on the main page. It is a big surprise to me that there are that many members currently at one time. That is people who spend money on it and maybe then play only once a week...
