Help Me Buy A Lens!

Featured Replies

I've recently bought a Canon EOS 20D body only. I am interested in buying a standard lens and a telephoto lens maybe 70mm-300mm. I was wondering if you could let me know what you think of getting lenses from the internet, I think they might get damaged in the mail, and what Brittish sites you would recommend, if any. Also would you recommend EF mounts or EF-S mounts, Sigma, Tamron or Canon lenses. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, my price range for a lens could maybe go up to ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300, I'm still at school and don't have a part time job, but I can get a job during the summer and stuff.

Ebay is your friend. Don't have much experience in the quality of certain lenses, but my dad just bought a telephoto lense of Ebay for like 50 bucks, and it works like a charm, Best bargain ever!

I'm left with just over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400 in my bank after buying the body, I can't afford to waste it on what potentially could be a broken lens. I'm looking for something that can be used in the long term for perhaps a decade or two to come

I dont think Tip.it is the right place to get advice about lenses :P

I think the owners of the shop could explain what is the right choice, they know alot about it.

With a 70mm-300mm lens, you could try to photograph animals in the woods.

But a closer lens would be better for now, you can allways buy better lenses in the future.

Is there no local camera shop? Like Jessops? That'd be the best idea, You could also take in your camera, Try the lenses, Talk to the people who are paid to know about cameras.

My dA account.
