Some are old but the ones of the skulls and the traffic were taken last week or so. EDIT #14: added five more photos EDIT #15: Updated title. EDIT #16: Added two more photos and updated title. EDIT #17: Added more photos and updated title. EDIT #18: Added one more photo and updated title. I've got a few more shots that might work. All of my dogs so I'll see what ones are good enough to be posted. This is my entry for February's "Photo Of The Month" Please, even if you aren't a photographer, vote! The more people who vote, the more exciting the competition is. Photo Of The Month Please help keep this gallery alive! EDIT #19: Added five more photos. They aren't my best but today the light was pretty poor exept towards the end of the day when my batteries were dying - I only have one set of batteries after my parents got robbed on holiday (my first camera has been stolen with a 512Mb xD card and 12 AA batteries) Though I hope to be relying more on my Canon EOS 20D when I get an EF 50mm F1.8 Mk II for it. EDIT #20: Added six more photos. I bought my new lens today but the weather was really bad so I decided to stay in and shoot my dogs :XD: Rusty was a good model but Xander, the bigger one, was harder and I only managed to get one good shot of him. The picture of the music is for a macro competition, I'll have to touch it up though. I'll probably be taking a great number of photos for a wee while so I guess I could update my stock photos pack. If anyone is interested, private message me and I'll get it zipped up and ready for download as soon as I can. EDIT #21: Updated title. EDIT #22: Updated title and added a few more pictures, again they are music related, I'm just experimenting with long exposures using different themes as a starting point. The figure and hands in the photos are me, I couldn't convince anyone else to sit at my keyboard. The composition might not be quite perfect, but when you're using a self timer it's quite hard to judge what will be in the shot. It's a bit of trial and error. EDIT #23: Updated title and added a few more photos. Some dog photos, including my entry for this months photo of the month - please vote - we didn't have many votes last month. I've also added a few more landscape photos, guess which one I got soaked in! EDIT #24: Added seven more photos. I've included a mistake that I think looks quite good - I touched the focus ring without realising it and ruined the focus, I like it though. Sorry for the delay in getting these up, I couldn't upload them for some odd reason. I've had to use tinypic instead of imageshack. :-k EDIT #25: Updated title. EDIT #26: Updated title. I've been out shooting again for the first time for a while. I was at the local park and I'm quite happy with how the photos have turned out. EDIT #27: Updated title. I was out with a few people from the camera club I attend taking photos of fireworks at some fireworks competition. Don't ask me how there can be competitions with fireworks, I just don't know. The light was quite hard for metering but I think I've got a few good shots, but I'll need to touch them up. EDIT #28: Updated title, added lots more photos. I've not been taking many photos since my last update (27th May) due to work and school, but I've got a weekend almost to myself and I've gathered my photos together and posted them here. I've made use of the hide tags to divide my photos more effectively. Most of the photos taken here were taken with my new lens, my 70-200mm F/2.8 L USM <!-- s<3: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_love.gif" alt="<3:" title="Love" /><!-- s<3: --> I love it. It has great build and image quality, the AF is so, so fast and the wide aperture is great for getting usable shutter speeds. I just got the best news I've had for a long time. I've been commended for a photo competition. All schools in Scotland were invited to take part in this and I've won a prize! I don't know what it is yet but I get to go to the awards ceremony at Dynamic Earth - expenses paid. I can't wait. This is the biggest thing I've won in photography ever. I got it for one of my most recent photos titled "Me and My Shadow": I really doubted that would win anything but my parents and friends said I should put it in and see what happens. I'm glad I did! The ceremony is the 14th of November and I won't know what I've won till then. As far as I know, my photo will be displayed in Dynamic Earth for a while afterwards, so I'm really pleased with myself. Enjoy! EDIT #29: I've found this place in a local park where I'm sure I can get great shots of ducks and sea-gulls, I'm enjoying snapping away while the birds greedily fight over the bread that people throw for them. It's brilliant! EDIT #30: I went on a trip to Inchcomb (one of the islands on the Forth) and took quite a few shots. These haven't been through photoshop so forgive the dusty sensor! EDIT #31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 & 40!: Removing URLs for deleted images in preparation for my big comeback! EDIT #41: I'm back! I've really neglected my photography for the last year (was busy with last year at school & learning to drive). So here are some photos taken since the last time I updated it (July 2008!!). I've a shiny new addition to my kit, the Sigma 15-30mm F/3.5-4.5. I've also included some of the first photos I've taken with it. I'm still getting used to the wider field of view it gives. Going from a 70-200mm to a 15-30mm is quite a change! Getting a filter for it is pretty much out of the question just now - an 82mm thread!EDIT #42: Took a trip out to a deer centre and then went on to St. Andrews for a wander along the beach and through the graveyard. Here are the results EDIT #43: Wow I have returned (this time hopefully for a little longer - last update September 09? Shameful!). I've managed to get my hands on a few bits of kit, including a second body (used 10D) which is always handy so I can have the 70-200 on one body and the 15-30 on the other. Most important kit update is my new (used) MACRO LENS. I've not had much of a chance to give it a shot, but I've got a couple of shots with it. I was finally able to find a use for an enlarger I rescued from a relative. The weather's been pretty crappy so I've not taken any shots of flowers (as they're all under snow just now), but I did what everyone seems to do when they get their macro lens, and took a photo of a coin and I had an old motherboard kicking about so I took a photo of that too, thought it might turn out well. I've also done a bit of tidying up getting rid of broken images and crappy photos. EDIT #44: Today is the first day that I've had off where it's not been chucking it down so I took a run up to Argaty (near Doune) and took some photos at the hide the have up there. Unfortunately I had to crop the photos very heavily (even using a 400mm lens!) but they look okay on the computer, I don't know how big I'd be able to print them. Some updates to my gear, I suffered a failed shutter on my 20D and I sold that + my 10D to pay for a used 1D Mark I. The 1D's mirror assembly failed shortly after buying it so I was able to sell that and get myself a 1D Mark II which (touch wood) has been working very well. Sold my 105mm macro and bought a cheaper Tamron 90mm f/2.5 Macro (manual lens) and acquired a Sigma 400mm f/5.6 HSM which only works wide open on newer bodies (unfortunately my current body is one of those newer bodies!). However, it seems to be pretty good wide open even with heavy cropping and the AF speed is pretty admirable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get a long lens on a budget (you can get these for around £100 on eBay!)EDIT #45: Some sad news about my eldest dog. He slipped a disk and the nerve damage caused by the displaced disk left him paralysed the next day so the sad decision was taken to have him put down (surgery was his only hope and wasn't covered by the insurance and could have put us in a lot of debt and Zander through a lot of pain - and may not have worked). So I've been trying to enjoy my walks with the surviving little one and here are some of the photos from today's walk:EDIT #46: A couple of photos from today's walk.EDIT #47: A couple of photos of Rusty and a photo of what I gather is a Red Damselfly.[/hide] EDIT #48: Took a run out to Tentsmuir Point and unfortunately didn't get anything from the hide overlooking a lake - despite waiting over an hour in there (not to mention the hour and half walking there from car park with a full backpack!)
