Trying to become members as we speak, it'll probably be far worse then I remember but hell, this'll be awesome!

Somewhere in 2001, because I remember the drops, but no idea which month.

Matt Damon going awesome, that's what: Season was a bit weak, comparing to the previous ones, final made up for so much thou, Paint balling Ari is the best thing ever.

There weren't special, not sure about poison (never played RSC P2P) Well, people will play it for PKing, it's a whole different game as far as PKing goes, and many who played it prefer the RSC PK system over the new one. It will fade out off course, but I do think there are enough people to keep at least a couple servers running. Wouldn't virtualisation downplay the costs? I'm assuming they are going to take "space" from existing empty-ish servers, and address it to the people that rent an RSC server. I do expect a player limit for servers thou, and a price change to increase said limit.

Because a lot of people want to replay RSC, and it'll be an extra chance for Jagex to make money from current F2Pers who want to play RSC again. And it's like 2 people that are working on it, so it isn't that big of a problem for RS2. They are talking about virtual servers, so this means they'll use bits of servers that aren't full to accommodate the new RSC servers. As for the everyone knowing each other bit, I'm sure if you rent a server, a lot of your friends will play on that server. You'll know almost everyone on your server if you want to limit it, giving a nice friendly atmosphere. I really really hope they get this made, and that it turns out payable. I wonder thou, how much modding will be possible? Would you be able to put a BDK in Lumbridge? Let it spawn R2H's everywhere? Or more pre-defined possibilities..

There wasn't deposit x, so that's a nice change. Curious. \ edit: Rereading that, and I'd buy one in a split second. This could be the greatest update ever if not too high priced. I have no idea what price would be do-able from Jagex' perspective, but darn if this doesn't sound extremely sweet. Stop all other stuff, make this happen ASAP Jagex!

Clan Chronicle issue #10 - BK, Jmod, Villandra, RSC wars ++
Punc replied to Laikrob's topic in Clan Discussions
Sabres have died and reformed so much and had times of extreme inactivity, that they can't be considered to have survived since the start of RuneScape. They were the first (second) clan to form, together with The. But apparently they mean pure RuneScape formed clan, and as both Sabres and The were formed during Cyberwars, they don't count as pure RuneScape. So in all, you're right in what you say, but they said it just different enough to be right as well \ -
TRWF started November 2002, so nearly 7 years.

Yeah, you can write stuff and just sent it to Laikrob. He'll then decide the hows and whens and stuff I guess :P

Clan Chronicle issue #10 - BK, Jmod, Villandra, RSC wars ++
Punc replied to Laikrob's topic in Clan Discussions
History of warring: Can't say I didn't know any of these things, however, I remember the person who made the RS Clan History also has an article on Clan Tactics and the same website, I believe It's from RSC, or am I wrong? That could be added to part 2. I'm going to assume you mean this http://www.geocities.com/timmymwd/clanwar.html bit. While it is an interesting read and well thought out, it's pretty much purely theoretic. In major wars none of these tactics were used. The scout was used while PKing, but even then it was more for single PKers and rune ore miners then for clans. So it doesn't really cover history, it's just a nice read on what could've happened if people actually organised themselves back then. -
Well, we have an example in BDK re-opening a while back. They closed back in RSC times, and re-opened during RS2. Their reputation was so high, that many high levelled members of other clans left, and joined BDK, hoping to once again rule the Wild. Unfortunately, the leader scammed and hacked a lot of the members, and the clan died pretty fast. If it wasn't for that, they could've been quite the strong competitor in the new clan world. Even though DS doesn't have that big of a name to draw in members from existing clans, they could form a threat. It won't be the same DS at all, it'll be a new clan that just happens to use (and possibly ruin) the same name. I wouldn't use a death clan name, just for the sake of keeping their legacy clean. If you have the members that were leading it (and assuming they had the time and everything), having a new name wouldn't change the strength.
-
Sure, a more general concept would be feasible. You simple look at the tactics behind wars, and the changes in the places (Wilderness single, Wilderness multi, Clan Wars,...). This would make an interesting view on how clans changes over time as well (quality - quantity - both), and would explain why alliances aren't really needed any more, but are purely for fun nowadays. You could describe each type with examples (like RSD Vs MI in RSC days, DI Vs RSD Multi-Wilderness, ...). Would make a nice guide thing on the Tip.It Clan Section..
-
If they are first generation leaders, they off course have more reason to claim the 'My house, my rules' card. Second generation leaders, their job is to maintain the clan. If they make stupid decisions that the majority of the clan disagrees with, kick them from the can, and replace them. It's better then mass leaving and starting a new clan that closely resembles the old one.
-
http://www.geocities.com/timmymwd/history.html Mostly biased, but still a fun read. Writing a new history would be impossible, because after RS2, especially after Wilderness got removed there are A) Too many clans in the world that content B) No interesting rivalries, hate and drama - it's all for 'good fun'
-
At a time my current clan was making annoying decisions, I joined a rival clan, and crashed their (original clan) PKs.

The same Jef Vermassen took this 'opportunity' to promote his new book on mass murderers, he really is that full of himself to get free advertisement from such a tragedy. The sad part is that it is becoming more and more clear that the suspect got his ideas from the Joker, because the papers are writing that he's only laughing when questioned, and not co-operating at all. Knives + laughing + face paint... Also, they now say he didn't have a criminal past, they still don't know much thou..

Java, PHP, C++, ActionScript 3.0, ASP, C#, COBOL and I can write the ultimate basics in assembler. In our school the focus lies on Java thou, which isn't always a good thing, specially for learning C++. I was baffled by memory pointers when we first had C++, since Java had made me very ignorant of those things ^^.

I skipped over a few posts so I'm not sure if this is addressed, but early at the start of the topic someone mentioned a fact from the PvP servers. They could keep the logout timer, while normal severs could be implemented with a different (longer) version. For the time limit to be changed, all randoms should become non lethal, and simple note your items/teleport you to a far away land if you don't react. Breaking axes should stay, as should losing fishing gear. These skills are to easy with a longer logout timer. (note: the dwarf isn't a lethal event in my eyes, it gives you enough time to react, so tough luck if you die from that one) As said before, the logout timer when playing is a different mechanism then the auto logout when you disconnect. This shouldn't be an argument against making the timer longer. As for the lagg, there are plenty of servers that aren't even halfway filled. Offcourse if you wish to use a server with a special activity this might cause problems (server 1, 2, ...). However, just making the timer 30-60 seconds longer won't damage it that much. There's not much difference between 'difficult' and 'very difficult' getting in, and those few seconds would help the people browsing forums a lot. It would also help for clans, when they follow in Clan Wars and forget to turn the mouse/press a key to stay logged in. (I believe the timer was created as an anti-macro mechanism, similar to the world switch delay -which should also be removed- to go against auto-ing fishers. Making it so that people who do activities would defy the reason why they were created in the first place, so this is something Jagex would never do.)

Habit, came over from ScapeBoard to these ones, the read is nice here.

Yeah, I heard that the other day. Makes the idea of the remake even worse really (that or he had an off day during the entire process of making Stood Still).
