Are you interested in/fascinated by any other religions?

Would you agree now that no one actually respects the beliefs of other people? Everyone is intolerant of beliefs with which he disagrees. It is still entirely possible to respect other people regardless of their beliefs, but there is a huge difference between tolerating people and tolerating ideas.

We're back to the point I made on the other thread about Postmodern Tolerance versus Christian Tolerance. Ultimately, Postmodern Tolerance - tolerance of everyone's ideas - is self-contradictory and impossible to put into practice. However, Christian Tolerance - loving people - works. Christian Tolerance allows you to say, "You are absoultely wrong," and still treat the person with respect, and speak the truth in love.

I'm not activley trying to force anyone to beleive in tolerance. I am saying that in my opinion they arn't helping us to progress society.

According to your own post, which sparked this entire discussion about your "useless" stance, you are.

The only religions i tolerate are those that tolerate others.

They can reason with them but not force them to change their beleif.

You are defining tolerance as not forcing them to change their belief. Therefore, intolerance would be the opposite, forcing them to change their beliefs.

If you are intolerant of people who believe in intolerance, you are trying to force people to change their beliefs and be tolerant.

If you are intolerant, which you admit you are, you are no different than those you speak of in the above statement.

This is why insane initially said it is a useless stance to only tolerate beliefs on tolerance that you agree with.

Would you accept degree's of intolerance? :|

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

That brings us back here...

Or are you going to correct your initial statement to say that you only tolerate belief systems which have as much tolerance in their beliefs as you deem necessary?

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.

I hate this, flame wars are personally attacking a peron. Not once did that occur here, it was a debate that attacked ideas and reasons for beleiving in them. Which is debating.

Agreed. Even if I or Astralinre thought you were an idiot (or vice versa) we wouldn't say it because it would hurt the integrity of the debate. Debates != flame wars.

Yep. Attacking people shows your argument is failing.
