January 26, 200719 yr If I wasn't a Christian, I'd probably be a Muslim, as they have absolute beliefs. In this day of wishy-washy "do whatever you want, I'm too afraid to criticize what you believe!" opinions, Islam actually stands for something. Mainly because Islam branched off from Christianity. Not at all. Islam and Judaism branched off from the same person - Abraham. Christianity was 4000 years later.

Ones like Hinduism and Buddhism are called Dharmic religions because they are similar and originate in the East. I'm not sure if Taosim and Shintoism ect fit into this category as well.
January 26, 200719 yr Would it be inappropriate for me to say that I'm fascinated by skinny monks bowing down to a big fat guy? Okay that might've been offensive to some Buddhists, but you got to say it is kind of funny in a certain way if you know what I mean. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
January 26, 200719 yr I am Catholic, but I find Buddhism very interesting. Catholocism isn't a religion...it's a denomination of Christianity... SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

January 26, 200719 yr Not at all. Islam and Judaism branched off from the same person - Abraham. Christianity was 4000 years later. The three Abrahamic (... so I had trouble translating that...) religions originated in the following order; Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Islam did not branch of from Christianity although it shares the basic Abrahamic concepts. -This message was deviously brought to you by:
January 26, 200719 yr i am not really interested in other religions, since i know only 1 of them is right. then again i do think that being ignorant of other religions makes u intolerant. Evolution is a philosophy unsupported by the majority of scientific observations whose influence has been a detriment to society and true scientific advancement.

I just meant that the foundations for Islam (Ishmael, Abraham's son being blessed by God instead of Isaac, whom the Jews believe was blessed by God) were laid much much earlier.

January 26, 200719 yr i am not really interested in other religions, since i know only 1 of them is right. then again i do think that being ignorant of other religions makes u intolerant. Connect the dots. How is the belief that there is one true religion intolerant? It may be exclusive, but it's not intolerant. And if I'm "connecting your dots" correctly, you also mean to say that believing in one true religion makes you ignorant, then what is your basis for that claim?
January 26, 200719 yr I'm Buddhism, you can say it is peaceful but saying the Prayers is pretty difficult. most people meditate daily if they're a Buddhism Sorry but this made me laugh seeing as if you follow Buddhism you are a Buddhist nonetheless! But yeah back on topic, I don't follow any religion, and don't have any particular interest in any. I like to ask people of different religions of their beliefs just to compare them to mine, but that's about it. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
January 26, 200719 yr Catholic is my religon i think it is absoultly amazing how many diffrent religons there are and they all intrest me tbh especialy the 1s where they have more than 1 god etc Tif 360 MGC Leaderboard
January 26, 200719 yr No more than I am by other aspects of different cultures. I suppose I'm more interested in religions I don't already know much about. deviantart account
January 26, 200719 yr I find the very concept of pretty much all religions very interesting. I've always enjoyed religious studies at school, and I suppose the religions i've found the most interesting to study are Islam and Hinduism. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
January 26, 200719 yr Yes, I've looked over many many religions and in the end still accept Christianity as the one that I accept the most. On the other hand I find it interesting the many uses that humans put God to, I mean really, think about it, everything from peace to war exists in most holy books, and guess what? Still exists today. ~ Clicky for the blog of No Cb Skils ~
January 26, 200719 yr I've studied Islam and Christianity in pretty deep detail and scratched the surface of Judaisim and Sikhism. I'd like to find out more about Hinduism and Buddhism. I'm not fascinated or obsessed by any of them really but I think Buddhism looks very interesting. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
January 26, 200719 yr I enjoy learning about Christianity and Islam. Paganism is quite interesting from a fictional point of view. Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!
January 26, 200719 yr I enjoy learning about Christianity and Islam. Paganism is quite interesting from a fictional point of view. Well... In religion, there's no 'fictional' or 'factual' point of view. :P But yes, especially the northern european pagan gods seem interesting. I don't know if that many people really believe in them anymore; Possibly a handful of elderly people.

January 27, 200719 yr I like to look at other religions to try to understand them. To understand why people believe them as more then just fiction. I find the topic fascinating. I still have yet to figure out why they believe in the stories but maybe I'll understand it someday. Will always be an athiest though.
January 27, 200719 yr All the poly-theism I find interesting, the old-school Norse and Greeks were rocking, and no offence (being a Christian myself) the stories were a damn sight better. As far as mono-theism, I'm still fascinated by the Christian-Islam relationship and whether it can go towards explaining the situation we are in today - of course that my be because I'm studying the crusades in history A level (not a glorious time for either side, it pretty much went - invade city, slaughter anyone of the other religion or Jewish looking) To be honest, any scripture or belief that can inspire people if worth interest

Sorry, I meant to highlight the "I know" part as well. He can think he is a prophet all he likes but he isn't. I've encountered this guy on my evolution topic, and I can assure you he comes across as an ignorant and intolerant person. I'm not against his belief, just how he portrays it as the absolute truth and that everyone else is wrong.
January 27, 200719 yr I only tolerate belief systems which have as much tolerance in their beliefs as i deem neccessary. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
