ranging_beast
Okay, I got a new computer yesturday and I am trying to get my router CD to work to allow me to go on internet on both computers, one is my brother, one is mine. The router is Belkin WireLess G, or 802.11g. My computer is Compaq SR207ONX. When I try to boot the disk, after going to check Router, It says it need to be rebooted. After I rebooted it, it go ons as normal, but I cannot continue where I left off, and cannot connect with router. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix it? Thanks in Advance, Ranged Crave I'M SO EMO HAHAHAHAHAHA
Parabola
Why would you need a CD to use a router? You should find out the default IP of the router (should be in the manual), open your connection in network connections (on each machine), go to TCP/IP settings, set IP & DNS servers to auto assign and set default gateway to your router's IP. Aznhuskarl
Why would you need a CD to use a router? Maybe he didn't install properly. That could explain why the router couldn't respond even he knew what were the IP settings. -=Aznhuskarl=- Cleric-=20Cent=- JuggernaughtMore to come... Parabola
Maybe he didn't install properly. Install what properly? How do you think hundreds, if not thousands, of devices manage to work with hundreds of different routers/access points without installing any router-specific software? Routers run their own firmware. It should not need anything to be installed.

Unless it uses a wireless card(most computer's now a days are built in)...and it needs to install something for that?

Unless it uses a wireless card(most computer's now a days are built in)...and it needs to install something for that? Every router on the planet can run on it's own, without a cd. The CDs packaged with them are generally watered down tools for the people that have absolutely no clue what they are doing. Doing as parabola said and finding the default IP for the router to log into and configure things would be the best way to go about getting things set up. You'd probably be even better off calling up/asking the family or neighborhood geek to help you out. The CDs are generally worthless, I know the one that came with my Linksys WRT54GS was...
