  1. I believe that the use of this bill can be justified however only after it's use and that's exactly the problem we have. Can you dissagree with the use of it if it'd prevented 911? Wouldn't you be angry if you lost someone who's very close to you just because the government wasn't allowed to act? What would you do if someone close to you was kidnapped and you had control over someone who knows where he is and how the person close to you could be saved? I would use force, brute force. My emotions would justify the use of it for me. If you've ever seen 24, think back, did you feel bad for the bad guys when jack was getting them to talk? I sure didn't and I wasn't supposed to. So, the use of it is justified by the possible result. I'm sure that everyone has done things that could only be justified afterwards. Would you trust a good friend to do something that involves you that can only be justified afterwards? Yes. Would you accept it if a total stranger would do something that greatly involved you that he could only justify afterwards? I wouldn't. Would you accept it if the government would do something that could greatly help you but could greatly endanger a total stranger while it could only be justified afterwards? Would you accept it if it was the other way around? On an emotional level this bill is justified. On a rational level it is a rediculous thing. A government should act based on rational decision. It seems to me however that the american government has made many decisions after 911 that are accepted on an emotional and not a rational level and that's scary. I'll end my post with two explanations of bills passed over 73 years ago that resulted in one of the worst dictatorships we've seen. They should speak for themselves.
  2. x^n+y^n=z^n Assume y=0, then x^n+y^n=x^n=z^n, solution x=z or x=-z if n=2*c. The same can be done when you assume y (or x or z) has a different value. One equation with three variable can't be solved so yea. So if this thing is going to have a solution at all you'd want to assume that you assign atleast one variable a value. Honestly though, this is far from a difficult equation Some googling gave me the following: That's a whole lot harder to prove I think and I know that I'm not going to try :D :P Proof can be found with google though
  3. Going for a run early in the morning is a great way to wake up properly and a good start for a day. Then again it feels pretty awful most of the time, I run a lot better and easier in the evening/afternoon. If you're only just starting you'd do good to run in the evening, it's easier and that'll give you more motivation to keep up with it. There are some great tools on the internet that generate personalised training programs based on the information that you give. This site is a good example, it seems to have a lot of information on most aspects of running on it aswell (I use a dutch site :P ) You'll see that it has distance trainings, distance with a speed increase near the end and interval trainings. That last two or vital if you want to increase your speed (which is very hard), the first for your condition. Last but not least, set a goal! sign up for a race, make a schedule and train! Get some friends to join in and train for a race together. I participate in a few big races (10k - 20k participents) and the atmosphere is just awesome, plus it feels really good to finish something :D I signed up for half a marathon in januari and I'll be training (1:40:00?) 8-) Good luck! :)

    Epic Songs

Metallica - One (S&M aswell) AFI - This time imperfect (best example from Sing the Sorrow though the entire album has an epic feel to it) The mars volta - basically everything Radiohead - Paranoid Android And as others have mentioned a lot of pink floyd is epic.
  6. I've had virtually nothing to eat today yet (6:15 pm now). I'll go with option 2, as many as I can  buuuuuuurgers :ohnoes: More serious, looks isn't taste and I'm more underweight then overweight so, yummy!! :D
  7. 'The' futures is the junior program of 'The' clan. You can join it at a lower level to train for the requirements for 'The'. Aside from help with combat training you learn how to pk and basically how to be a good clan member. At 110 combat you graduate into 'The' clan which is one of the oldest clans in runescape (6+ years). You'll see a lot of 'The' and TF on world 100 as it is our homeworld :D Aside from 'The' futures there are several other junior programs including the red dragons (the mighty red dragons), the corrupted (corruption). There's more for sure but I can't think of them :x
  8. Yea I'm majoring in physics, I've only finished half of my second year this far though. Still lots to learn and lots to study in more depth :) So all in all ZealotZ, there's no reason to tell me to look at wikipedia to read up on quantum mechanics when I've succesfully followed several courses on it at university level  I personally can't understand how you can concider the content of a site like whatthebleep.com to be scientific. Not a single scientist who takes himself serious would want any of his work on that site. I and Death by pod have given more the enough reasons as to why the parts on physics are utter nonsense. Seriously believe what you want, but if you want any discussion on this topic then you should atleast take the opinion of someone who's majoring in physics on the topic of physics seriously.
  9. The piece on quantum mechanics is nothing more then a bunch of fancy terms thrown together. Some of which have absolutely nothing to do with eachother. The chaos theory (butterfly effect) describe non lineair function in which a small change in start conditions has drastic effects later on. This has little to do with the uncertainty that comes with quantummechanics as this uncertainty (heisenberg uncertainty principle) is not time dependent. The ripple of effect you're talking about is not quantum mechanical in origin. It finds it origin in coulomb attraction and gravity between atoms. The only thing that's quantummechanical about it is the word "Ripple" which refers to the wave function that defines the probability to find a particle/atom at a certain point in space. You're right on the fact that measurements on a particle affect its wave function (it collapses). Which means that either the impuls or the location of the particle becomes entirely undetermined and the other determined. The measurement makes itself, yes. The result is made by the measurement, but the result is not known before the measurement is done. You do not know the result before it's there and thus it does not mean that what you know to be true is true. You just know what is true and that truth happens to be made by your measurement. So all in all chapter II is nothing less then a lot of fancy words thrown together without knowing anything about, it's nonsense. Seeing as it's chapter II and the rest of the chapters use some of the results of chapter II it leaves me with the conclusion that it's all nonsense.
  10. Well that's a seriously nice mistreatment of physics and mathematics. :wall: :ohnoes:
  11. but your not realizing the adaptation factor... when you learn a language, it takes many, many years of using the language for you to actually speak and know, instead of speaking, translating, and then knowing. that is because you are used to another language system. its not the difficulty of learning, its the fact that you will have to translate every measurment because you are already used to another system. it will take years, like a language, to speak and know how much a measurment relatively is. why do you think learning your first language is easy? What do you think that we europeans did when the euro was introduced? We translated everything back to our old currency for quite a few years. The only reason why most people have stopped calculating euros back to their old currency is that it makes you instantly depressed as everything has become so much more expensive. We did get used to it though and I'm sure that americans can get used to a system as logical as the metric system. As for the costs, did you know that a marscar crashed on the surface of mars because the imperial to metric conversion was forgotten? I'm sure you can afford one hell of a lot of signs for the money that that error cost. The standard system (SI system) happens to include most of the metric system (except for temperature) and nothing of the american system :P
  12. Actually the universe pretty much started with a big bang that was the result of the annihilation of pretty much all matter and anti-matter. Through a miracle there was slightly more matter then anti-matter, which is now the universe as we know it. This theory is supported by rough estimations that show that there are far more Photons then other nuclear particles. Basically light exists of photons, so light was there right from the start. As for the theory, enter space bubble or space bobble on google and you won't find a thing about this theory. I guess that says enough. Aside from that I've been studying applied physics for 3 years now and to be honest I've never heard of this. Though you use a lot of fancy terms which do exist, the combination of it just doesn't make sense.. Nice story but more of a hoax then science IMO
  13. You should definately pay a visit to one of the d-day beaches a memorial site and a museum. Mont saint michel is also one of the major tourist attraction in the area, it's basically a church on a small island. Caen is one of the bigger cities in normandy worth a visit. Bayeaux is another city which has a huge carpet in its church (carpet of bayeux). Quiet interesting. An early visit to a fishingharbour is also something I can recommend to do. Last but not least Saint Malo is a beautifull old city in Bretagne that is most definately worth a visit.
  14. Good friend of mine has been playing this game for over 2 years. I saw this post and decided to check it out. The game is vast and seems really good. I'll be playing as bolthan, feel free to add me :D
  15. Sure there were issues between the members of different alliance clans. The other alliance clans dealt with them just as Bk did and it sure enough did cost a lot of time. Time that has proven to be well worth it over the years. The alliance has always provided an extra hand to get up when in trouble. We've used it when we were in need of forums after ours had gotten hacked for the 100th time and so have other alliance clans. Sure the alliance had it's downside, it wasn't to good for the name of the clans in it. Certain clans basically claimed that we depended on eachother to get anything done. Sure it restricts us in potential pking and war targets. I can understand that Bk wanted to leave the alliance for the reasons stated, wether I agree with them or not. That's definately not why I and others were angry over bk leaving the alliance. The problem is the way in which you left the alliance. There was no communication, nothing. You guys were just out of the alliance all at once, your own members had to find out that you'd left on our clan forums. It happened with that much hurry. The clan community congratulated you on the good move of leaving the alliance. Bk gladly took that as compliment, which is the same as telling a good friend that he can [bleep] of, for nothing that he can do something about, and then accept that other people are applauding the move. That's nothing less then backstabbing the 3 (4) clans with who you'd been in an alliance for so long. You can't expect us not to feel hurt or angry over that. However we were rediculed for our anger and Bk let that happen aswell. Aside from that it left the 4 remaining clans in a ship that was sinking as 1 clan had just blown its way out of the ship. We could only go down with it or try to keep it floating, there was no way that we could leave the ship and get a good name from it just like Bk did. We'd've been the weak ones who'd give up as soon as it started getting hard. It would've been a different story if all the clans had decided to disband the alliance I still think that we had every dam reason to feel betrayed and backstabbed. So stop bloody claiming that you never intended to hurt us, because a person with half a brain could've known that this had happened. And we had thoughts about leaving the alliance too, everyone sometimes doubt about these things. Yet we never did leave. And as I said the problem with bk wasn't that they left the alliance but how they left it.
