Making Desktop Shorcuts to RuneScape Worlds on a Mac!!

First off, I would like to give a huge amount of credit to Bradley_006. The Html code and the world links are both from his thread Guide To Making desktop Shortcuts to runescape worlds as are some of the ideas. Anyway, onto the guide:

This guide will show you how to make desktop shortcuts to runescape worlds legally on a Mac. Here is proof that this is legal: Click! Credit to Necromancer_Magic for the picture.

Step 1:

Double click on the Macintosh HD, scroll down and open the Applications folder. Find the Application entitled Text Edit and double click on it.

Step 2:

Copy and paste this code

into text edit.

It will show up like this:

It looks like there is nothing there because the text is white.

Step 3:

Click on the Text Edit document and highlight all the text (Command+A) [the text is still white, so you wont be able to see it until it's highlighted] Then go to Format>Make Plain Text (Shift+Command+T). A window will pop up asking if you want to convert the document to plain text.

Select OK

The document should now look like this:

Step 4:

You will now need to select which world you want to link to. There are two ways of getting the URL for a world.

Option 1:

Go to the world select page and click right click (or Control+Click) on

the world you want and select Copy Link [as shown below]

Option 2:

Select one of the URL's shown below:

Paste the link you selected where the words "WORLD LINK HERE" are (Command+V).

Your Text Edit document should now look something like this:

Step 5:

This is the final step. Go to File>Save As (Shift+Command+S) and you will get a menu that looks like this:

If it doesn't look like that, you probably didn't change your document to plain text

Change "Untitled" to whatever you want to call the shortcut.

Add ".html" to the end of your title just as the guide said earlier. When you Press the Save button, this menu should pop up:

When you see that menu, press Dont Append, and the shortcut will be saved to wherever you selected.[/hide]

Once you're done with that, (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!!) add ".html" to the end of your title. Press Save and this menu will pop up:

Select "Use .html". The document should be saved to your desktop like so:

You can now use it as a shortcut!

*Note that this guide was made and tested on Mac OS X Version 10.3 and 10.5 It may not work on other versions.

If you read the guide instead of skimming through it, you will notice that there are quite a few other differences..

Most people would read the guide on how to do it on a Pc, but not know how to do it on a Mac. This guide shows them what application to use, and what else they need to do for the shortcut to work.

Thanks 8-) I took 2 hours trying to find a notepad type program for mac so i could use the original guide, then i got a new mac :XD: not going to bother searching again this owns :D :thumbsup: :) :lol: :o 8-)

Just got a new Mac! Sweet! It has 4gb of ram, so it's super fast, and W2 is actually fast on it now!
