TIF is bit over-moderated
I've left the staff for a bit now, but I still lurk here and there. From what I've seen, the staff is doing a decent job at moderating and watching posts, especially given the population and demographics of the Runescape audience. I have to head out in a few minutes so I'll just say this - work on your public image. :)

School
I suppose I'm on the other side of the classroom now.. I'm the teacher now. I must be old. :( Honestly, academically, high school was a joke. Loved every minute of it though. Just some advice; once you're out of high school, no one cares what or how you did in high school.

Good Laptop for College?
Dell? I never thought people would SUGGEST Dells as good computers.. I have an Asus ul30-vt. It's a mobile laptop that weighs about 3.3 pounds. It's really light so it's great to carry around campus (I would never carry my Dell around because it was too bulky). Best $800 I've ever spent on a laptop. You can even play newer games like l4d2 on it, if that's your thing. It doesn't have a CD-drive, but I believe you can get the ul80-vt, which is heavier but has a CD drive. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XZLURC/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0032FOKXS&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1GMZAC9J84HABX23D1GZ

Nationality & Belonging to a country
I think most people are straying off-course and talking about nationalism and pride, rather than nationality, culture and identity..

Car or a bus?
I used to drive the buses around during college and most of the buses run every 15 minutes.. convenient for a round trip from your apartment to campus and back, but I would never take the bus to campus then transfer to get somewhere. Although I love mass transit, biking was much quicker - I couldn't imagine waiting on five buses to get me where I wanted to go o.o

[TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
Normally, a pyro will take out your deadringer with the flamethrower, then keep going and get you while you're cloaked. There are very few players that can actually use the dead ringer well, and when they do, they are much more annoying than invis watch spies, lol. For anyone struggling with spy, watch that video. It helps a TON. I'd love to stop seeing dumb spies that keep rushing at the enemy on my team once in a while :)

The Last Airbender
Am I the only who is disgusted at the casting in the movie? Following the steps of 21 and Dragon Ball Z, they've totally whitewashed the cast. I feel like this could have been a great opportunity for young Asian American actors and actresses to break out into Hollywood. There are very few good roles written for Asian American actors/actresses, and this was obviously one of them. I could go on, but I might fill up a whole page.. Racism aside, I'm glad that this was a horrible movie.

Happy July the 4th!
I just take the day as an excuse to hang out with family and friends. We should also take the time to thank the French, for without them, the Revolution would have definitely failed (I think that I've only seen one person mention the French). For the most part, it sounds like most people don't know their American history, which disappoints me :(

Nationality & Belonging to a country
Story of my life. Being Chinese-American, my parents were great at teaching Chinese mannerisms and culture. I understand most of the customs, speak the language, and do things differently than they would be done in America. However, although both of my parents are Chinese, I was born in America. I love my heritage and culture, but obviously, I live within American culture. The two often conflict, especially when I was young and didn't know any better. I've grown up, explored this hybrid identity, and have figured out that I'm lucky - I get to choose what I like best about both cultures. Don't feel like you have to be forced to "be" American or "be" Finnish. You are.. you. Don't label yourself like that. And like you, I have the same struggle with nationalism/patriotism. Never once have I ever felt a strong allegiance for the USA. I've never felt the need to root for the US in world sports. In the end, I am ultimately American. And as fakeitormakeit2 said, nationalism can be a good thing, but overdone, it can lead to disastrous results. A sense of identity as a Chinese-American took me all four years in college to finally figure out (through community work and education) but you'll get it eventually. Just label yourself and you'll be fine. :)

PS3 or XBOX360?
The PS3 has wifi built in. Free online play.. and I've never had trouble with the servers. (I have a ps3 at my SF-home, but my 360 is here in my apartment). I've had my 360 for a year now and I'm still not willing to pay for XBL or a router/wireless adapter for it. There's so much extra stuff you need to buy for the 360 :[ Plus you don't have all the little 12 year old kids screaming in your ear when you're playing a game on XBL hahaha.

Xbox Live
Well if you want a temporary solution, you can use a laptop + bridge your wireless and wired connections. Takes up a lot of energy though, but hey it gets you on xbox live. Google has instructions :]

E3 2008 | Discussion
I think in the next few days, Sony should be focusing on the hardcore gamers -- Microsoft and Nintendo are both showcasing "casual gamer" games/accessories and it seems that the not-so-casual gamer community isn't exactly liking it. It'd be nice to be seeing real games rather than Wii Sports 2.0 and 1v100.. lol Wii Music was entertaining. Too bad it wasn't entertaining in a good way.
