  1. I'm not going to touch the question of whether or not they are still confident. If you have the most popular free to play game and aren't then you would have to be crazy. About the post cards, by law they have to allow entry without charging you because otherwise it is considered gambling akin to a lottery. They use post cards because very few will go through the effort. Many companies do this, for example mcdonalds with their monopoly game and subway with their scrabble game. Just like how those companies have the contests for their customers Jagex is having it for its customers. Ie, members.
  2. Yuriqiu explained my opnion very well.
  3. I did, he's hypocritical. He prefaces it with "it's my fault" then says "has free trade made anyone else feel this way?" It's like me betting my life savings on a single hand of black jack and when I lose saying it's the casino's fault for being there.
  4. "I'm not blaming free trade." "Does anyone else feel discouraged because of free trade?" Stop lying, you are quite obviously blaming free trade.
  5. Hello everyone, I've noticed a trend recently of players complaining about scammers and bottters now that free trade is back. These people say free trade should be removed because of this. Botters - Botters have always been around and always will, it's an unfortunate reality. But taking away free trade is not the way to deal with this. Punishing everyone for a minoritiy's abuse is ridiculous I fully believe Jagex has the capibility of dealing with the majority of the botters (law suits against rwt companies for example.) Scammers - Scammers are only as successful as their targets are dumb. Take it as a life lesson, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I've heard claims that "everyone gets scammed atleast once but that is not true. I have played for ten years and stil have not been scammed. So does anyone else agree that this whining is ridiculous?
  6. As much as I like how the OP is trying to think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table. I must say I find this to be a terrible one. There are problems yes, but this is not the solution. This is far too complicated and makes combat way too predictable. I will not get into the issue of how this system is very easily abused as many others have already pointed it out. Instead I am going to bring up a different point. What made the wilderness so exciting was the fear of the unknown. You did not know what you might encounter even in a one on one fight and that made it very exciting. The OP seems to want to be able to have evenly matched fights without fear of your opponent having skills or items that are not easily recognizable. However you already have that option. The Duel Arena allows you to set rules such as; no potions, no prayers, no food, no summons. You can tailor your fight to exactly what you want. If you want to make sure that both players are using the same type of food then you open up a trade screen and show your inventory to each other then immediately start the duel. This was used all the time in the old system and worked very well. The way the old wilderness was, while perhaps flawed, was very fun and I can not help but imagine that this type of overly complicated system meant to take out any surprise from a fight will only make the game less enjoyable. Good initiative, bad judgment. But I like that you are trying to think outside the box.
  7. If I were running a business (which the game is), I would go for the money. That's the goal of a business, something most people here don't seem to understand.
  8. It could be either one all depends on who the person is.
  9. I've played since the beta of RSC and all this comes across to me as is whining. Of course they're more distant now. They have 5,000,000 players now instead of 50, it's impossible to keep a close link with all of them. Faulting them for being a business is just idiotic. They have to make money to keep runescape running and updated. And don't even try to say they are greedy, Jagex gives massive amounts of money to charity and spends a lot on improving the work life of their employees. What's the last company you ever saw that provided fresh fruit every day to their workers. So what if the link between Jagex and the players is getting bigger. Are you playing Runescape for Runescape, or to be buddies with the gowers?
  10. I don't see how anyone could possibly put Runescape over Real Life. Now if you have an important event and a friend just randomly calls you up seeing if you want to hang out, then I could see you telling him to wait just a bit. Simply because it's no different than if you were doing some other thing you really enjoyed and just wanted your mate to wait a bit on you. However for anything even slightly important how on earth can you put Runescape of Real Life. I just don't even know where to begin. I suppose it's simply a case of some people having their orders way out of whack. Kind of like that overworking business man who puts his work before his kids.
  11. Well of course after the 50's the exp becomes negligible. However below 50, when you need to do the quests anyway (since I assume most people want to have completed all the quests), it can be a great way to get an early boost on your levels and therefore speed up the leveling process, or at least in my experience it is.
  12. After getting my account unbanned after several years, I got a new members subscription and was stunned at the amount of quests. Just tons and tons. So, I decided to do all of them (or at least all they I could do). Many were useless to me, other than simply unlocking new quests, however I understand that they were made for lower level people. However when I looked into the requirements for a fairy tale part 2 and noticed I needed 49 farming (was level 1 at the time). It hit me that I could do other quests in the mean time, quests which give farming exp as a reward to help me get there while still doing more quests. So I started on a fairy tale part 1 (needed it done anyway, obviously) and the 3500 farming exp boosted me to level 17, quite a jump. Obviously that 3500 would mean little once I'm level 40, but instantly going to level 17 by doing a quest I would be doing anyway means when I start training my farming I'll already be getting a higher exp rate. After finishing a forgettable tale, it'll go from 17 to 25 (almost 26) too. So, the question is. Have you ever used the method, of completely quests to help raise levels for other quests?
  13. Returned3, although I didn't do it, I did sort of "admit to it". Because from everything I've read (and my experience) Jagex will almost always assume they're right (since they usually are) so your best shot is to just apologize and say you'll never do it again and that you love runescape.
  14. It worked! To top it off, I have 1.3mil, lots of rune, and a red mask on the account still ^_^. So happy. Oh, and apparently I had yogosun as a friend back in the day O_O.
  15. Well, from everything I've read recently it seems simply saying that you realize what you did was wrong and apologizing is the best method. So I sent this in, which was essentially taken from a guide to getting your account back and altered to fit my way of putting it a bit more: Dear Jagex, I am deeply sorry for the mistakes I have made. I love Runescape and now that my account is at risk of being lost forever I realize that my behavior was inappropriate. I promise if you give me one final chance I will not break any rules. I love playing Runescape and will never do anything that would put my account at risk ever again. Thank You I sure hope it turns out well. I've put a lot of work into that character.
  16. How does this sound? I first found out my account was banned after coming back from a break. I didn't remember having committed the offenses nor do now. I attempted to appeal the ban, but my appeal was denied. It has been quite a while now since that happened and I am a much more mature person now. I have no intention of ever breaking any rules and would like to return and start playing runescape again on my old account. So, I ask that the ban be lifted and I be allowed to play once more. It's hard to word it quite right, because I honestly don't remember ever committing the offense (and they don't even have evidence of it) but at the same time I doubt if I just say "I didn't do it" that I'll be unbanned.
  17. Alright guys, I'm coming to you guys to help me out here, here's the deal. I have a very old account, we're talking back from the RSC beta days. I played on and off for years on that account until after taking a break, I came back to find it banned. I was banned for two things: "website advertising" and "encouraging others to break the rules" neither of which I ever remember doing. I appealed them before but on my final appeal was told no. Out of curiosity I logged into the account's ban appeal and found I now have a ban appeal since they updated their systems and apparently have no evidence on my previous ban. They know I was banned, but have no history of evidence for it. My account status is in the read zone and I have 10 black marks out of 10 (kinda hard egh?). My offense history has two things in it. One, an offense from 05-Jun-2006, says the type is "legacy offense", anyone know what that means? It says its appeal status is "not appealable" and under "why?" it says "no evidence". The second entry is my "last chance appeal" So, I'd like to hear advice on how I should word my appeal. I know I never did what I was banned for, but I don't expect them to believe that. It's been a long time since it happened, perhaps I could simply state how it's been a long time, I have no intention of ever breaking the rules again and simply want to enjoy the game once more?
  18. Wow... are you serious. Is this really what this generation has come to "rap battles" over video games. Sorry, but you guys are way too white to even to attempt this. Go get a job, make something of yourself, instead of thinking that a bunch of fake celebrities trying to act like they're still fourteen is how the real world works. By the way, even in rap you can't make up fake words and lack all melody "banklet"? Sorry, something in this just reminded me of how much I hate the "rap culture" and how it's turned so many young boys into complete morons who are going to throw their lives away for no reason.
  19. I started playing during the beta of RSC so there's a lot to remember but, I do remember a fair bit. First off, my first character was banned, for two things I never did. But I'll just spout out some random memories of mine: I remember the first time I played and not knowing how to talk to NPCs. I remember looking at the hatchet shop, seeing a mith hatchet and thinking "oh no, how am I going to save up 3,000 coins for that!?" I remember the chicken quest in the haunted house south of the barbarian village, that was a fun time. In fact, I remember almost all the quests I did. Dragon Slayer was a fun one, I remember dieing the first time I tried it, going on a tirade, quitting for a week, then coming back and beating it. As one other fellow said, I remember fishing a load of lobs (or tuna and swordies) and killing lesser demons for hours on end. Seemed most people did that back then. Heck, I remember when members was first introduced. Most of all, I remember my clan 'the' clan. Had some great times with those guys, fun PK trips and wars. Then after taking a break for a couple months, I find my account banned and deleted. After a few years I finally came back, used an old side character and am back up to where I am now.
  20. Hunter, like someone else said about thieving if you no life it you can do it in under two weeks from level 1 and by the time you're done you will have millions over 30mil in red chinchompas.
  21. I haven't read through the responses, since I don't have the time, so if this was already posted, I apologize. I will keep this brief. You come across as a little kid who doesn't understand how the world works, or the technicalities of decisions. First of all, you talk about "players rights", "online freedom of speech", "freedom of merchanting and trading". None of those things you have. Jagex owns runescape, they reserve all the rights (and if you read through the EULA you would know that). They own your very character and could delete him at any moment and you would have no legal merit to dispute it in court. There is also no such thing as "online freedom of speech" in Runescape, they own Runescape and pay for the servers on which it is run and so they dictate what is allowed on it. If you want to have "online freedom of speech" then buy your own server and run it. Oh and don't even get me starting on "freedom of merchanting", god only knows where you got that idea from. I don't hate Jagex either, if I did then why would I play. Why would I pay members? If I hate a company, I'm not going to give them my money. Jagex has made one of the best MMORPGs in my opinion, not just best f2p MMORPG, but one of the best MMORPGs out there and I've played more than my fair share. If you want Jagex to get the point, then rioting is pointless. Do you really think they will even see it? They're busy working on the game, it'll only appear to them as a busy world until they start getting abuse reports and that kind of negative attention your cause does not need. If you want Jagex to hear your opinion, then send them an e-mail, get all your friends together to send e-mails. Don't spam them though, just one each. Explain why you believe it should not have been done. But keep in mind why it was done, to get rid of RWT which would have ruined the game in a very short period of time. Rioting is just what immature kids do because they think it will get them attention. All it actually does is make them seem stupid. Just as how your inability to distinguish a protest (I quote you: "They even stand in the streets shouting out.") from a riot, has made you seem stupid.
  22. I timed it... I was catching red chinchompas every few seconds. Where as Red Salamanders averaged about one every ten seconds or so.
  23. Almost every guide I've seen says to train on Red Salamnders from 59-80 hunter. One saying to switch to dashing/dark kebbits at 69, which made sense. I trained on it from 59-63 and decided to try out Red Chinchompas just to see how fast they are and I seem to catch them just as fast as I did Red Salamanders, only the Chinchompas give more exp. I could certainly see dashing/dark kebbits being faster from 69-80. However I don't see how Salamanders are faster than Chinchompas until then, although it seems most people say they are. Could someone give me some input?
  24. Many games already do this and are successful with it. I know of many people who would use this. I think it'd defenintly expand their business and make them more money. Heck, I'd use it. More secure than using a credit card I think.
  25. I second that ! i third it =D> if people want to quit they can quit. They dont have to keep playing just because they are on the high scores for your amusement make that a forth \ make it a fith ^.^ \ no make it a 6th Wheres this up to... Oh yeah. I make it a seventh. I eighth it :o And.... because I'm bored... I ninth it! i was thinking about thirding it but i guess i tenth it!...lol we got 10 =D> I 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, AND 17th the notion. The last 6 were the other people living inside of me...  I'll stop the silly (I have multiple peolpe saying stuff) thing and go back to the real count, anywaaay. You said exactly what I was thinking man. Seriously, WHO CARES, I remember when yuffie first maxed all combat stats. I said "Hmm, that's pretty cool" then when back to playing. If she really has found true love, then I'm glad to hear that. I think it seems a bit odd that she would think that a game could ruin it but if she aws really that addicted to it then it's nice to see her be responsible about it. Nice to see some runescapians have self control lol. In short, I eleventh it!
